Highly cost-effective hotel!

Highly cost-effective hotel!

The hotel environment is very comfortable and Instagrammable. Toiletries are provided. The hot spring is not very big, but after a day of walking around, soaking in the hot spring at night feels very relaxing. There is a private parking lot 🅿️. Note that room cleaning service is only provided if you stay for 3 consecutive nights. It is about a 10-minute walk to Kokusai Street.

Naminoue Shrine in Okinawa

Naminoue Shrine is located in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture. It is the most prominent of the 'Ryukyu Eight Shrines' and the only one situated by the sea, serving as the main guardian shrine of Okinawa. Perched on a cliff, it offers a panoramic view of Naha Port. Historically, Naminoue Shrine has been a sacred place for praying for maritime safety and abundant harvests. During the Ryukyu Kingdom era, the king would lead dignitaries to worship here, praying for the peace of the nation.

If you're visiting Okinawa for the first time, this is a no-brainer.

If you're visiting Okinawa for the first time, this is a no-brainer.

If you're not driving in Okinawa, I really recommend joining a day tour, so you can just focus on taking photos 😂. When I took the bus to the outlying islands later... ✏ To avoid getting up early, I chose the classic North Line tour that meets at 8:45. We didn't get back to the prefectural office until 19:00. ✨ Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium 2 hours 30 minutes The only paid attraction worth visiting. Follow Crayon Shin-chan to the aquarium. The highlights are the whale sharks and dolphin show, the rest can be skipped. Two and a half hours is enough for a rough visit. If you want to explore it thoroughly, I suggest spending a whole day there, as the round-trip bus ride is time-consuming. 🐋 ✨ Kouri Beach 20 minutes Check in at Kouri Bridge. The sea in Okinawa is really nice. It was cloudy and drizzling at the time, but the sea was still clear and transparent. 🌊 ✨ Onna no Eki Nakayukui Market 20 minutes There is a store on Kokusai Street. It's a good place to stop and rest, and recharge your energy. ✨ Cape Manzamo 20 minutes (JPY 100/person) Well, it was backlit in the afternoon, but I did see a rainbow that day. 🌈 ✨ American Village 50 minutes Oh my god, it's like an open-air set. It's a bit... depending on your personal preference. But it's really good for taking photos, especially at night when the lights are on. The area is not small, so 50 minutes is a bit rushed. 🏰 💁 I weighed my options and decided to join a day tour, as I didn't want to tire myself out. It was actually quite good, and the time at each attraction was very precise. 😅 It was a bit rushed, maybe because I spent too much time taking photos.

My stay in Okinawa was just amazing

I booked the last minute flight from Taipei to Okinawa just spend a couple of days before New Year’s holiday. The hotel is well designed and newly renovated (I guess) because everything was just neat and decent. The hotel is right next to the trail station. Happy to stay at Strata Naha hotel. See you next time! Address - The Strata Naha (Okinawa) Ambiance/Facilities - I will give 5stars Highlights - the backyard to chill Avg. Price per Person - NT1500-2000 or ¥10,000 Rating - 4.9 out of 5 #okinawa #beachlife

Sueyoshi Park

#okinawatrip There are many slopes and hills in the area, so it might be difficult to stroll around with a stroller. However, there is a decent-sized playground available for children to play in. For adults, it's a nice place to work on their thighs! The abundance of tropical plants creates a serene atmosphere in the air, which is hard to believe considering that this place was once a fierce battleground many decades ago. Nice green place for fresh air, body relaxing and calm down the mind. Kids playing park and free parking is available.

I enjoy the freedom of seafood at the seafood market in Okinawa

I enjoy the freedom of seafood at the seafood market in Okinawa

To understand a city, the simplest way is actually to visit the local food market. In Nago, I went to the Nago Fishing Port, and naturally, I did the same in Naha. Naha actually has two markets, one is the Naha Fishing Port, and the other is the First Makishi Public Market. ✅ Market Introduction: ⭕️ Naha Tomari Port is right by the dock, not as nice as Makishi Public, more like a local food market for residents. ⭕️ Makishi Public is right next to Kokusai Dori, overall much cleaner and tidier, more like a large fresh supermarket. ⭕️ In terms of price, the two markets are not much different, but Makishi Public has a wider variety and larger scale than Tomari Port. ⭕️ Both markets have seafood stalls that offer processing services, and the stalls have Chinese-speaking staff, so no worries about language barriers. ⭕️ For processing, whether it's sashimi or Chinese-style stir-fry, everything can be arranged, giving a feeling like you haven't traveled far. ⭕️ During the trip, the exchange rate fluctuated quite a bit, we didn't exchange too much Japanese yen, conveniently credit cards, WeChat, and Alipay were all accepted. ✅ Special Recommendations: ⭕️ In Japan, noctiluca and giant clams are edible, and in the market, you can also see porcupine fish and coconut crabs, like visiting an aquarium. ⭕️ At Tomari Port, we tried noctiluca, which are really big, half sashimi and half stir-fried with green onions, really delicious no matter how it's cooked. ⭕️ At Makishi office, we ordered a lobster, a geoduck, and a scallop for a total of 15,900 yen, about 750 RMB, which would cost at least double in China. ⭕️ The lobster was half raw and half boiled in soup, geoduck sashimi, and scallops with garlic, all extremely delicious because they were fresh. ⭕️ It is said that in China, giant clams that have been sitting in tanks have a special stench, so in the end, we didn't try them, but those interested might want to give it a shot.

One of the Huge Castle in Okinawa

#okinawatrip The castle ground is huge. Plenty of walking and good all round view of the city from higher ground. Unfortunately the main hall was totally destroyed in a fire in 2019. Only the 2 sand stone dragon columns at the entrance remained almost intact but still was damaged from the fire. The main hall is currently being reconstructed and targeted to be completed in 2026. Still worth the visit to see the rebuilding progress at the same spot. Amazing skills of these craftsmen are exemplified in short recorded videos. Japan really value some of these traditional trades and skills. Will definitely come back again after the main hall is completed. Parking is available at 400 JPY. Flat rate for about 3 hours so you can also explore around the area outside the castle for food and snacks.

Recommended Morning Spot Near the Airport in Okinawa

I visited a place called 'January and August' in Naha City, Okinawa! 📍3-5-7 Oroku, Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture The cafe is small with only 7 seats! It opens at 9 AM, and you can enjoy a luxurious morning set in a lovely space! The toast plate was amazing, with crispy toast that tasted even better with sausage! Besides coffee, they also sell antique goods and old tools, which were fun to look at! It's close to Naha Airport and easily accessible, so definitely check it out!
