Introduction Sunset Sightseeing in Dunhuang

Introduction
Some information may have been translated by Google Translate
Watching the sunset in Dunhuang is a unique experience that shocks the soul. Dunhuang is located on the edge of the desert. Its special geographical location gives it a broad and boundless vision, creating unique conditions for watching the sunset.

Mingsha Mountain Crescent Lake, Yadan Geopark, etc. are all good places to watch the sunset. When the sun sets, the afterglow sprinkles on the rolling sand dunes, and the sea of sand is dyed golden, which contrasts with the sunset in the clear sky, outlining a magnificent picture. At Yumen Pass, the ancient pass is more vicissitudes in the afterglow of the sunset, making people feel as if they have traveled through thousands of years and felt the fusion of history and nature.

Here, tourists can quietly appreciate the process of the sun slowly setting and the glow gradually covering the earth, and witness the wonderful changes in colors between heaven and earth. In addition to watching the sunset, you can also feel the profound historical heritage of Dunhuang, and leave unforgettable travel memories in this magnificent scenery of the desert smoke.

Hexi Corridor Dunhuang|5 days and 4 nights to retrace the Silk Road

|5 days and 4 nights to retrace the Silk Road. 🎈National Geographic once said: The Hexi Corridor is a transportation hub and a scenic corridor. Under the care of nature, this Silk Road has been endowed with a unique scenic corridor where snow mountains and deserts converge. In March and April, the Hexi Corridor is in the off-season, with cheaper tickets, air tickets, and hotels, and fewer tourists. More importantly, the Mogao Caves open 12 caves, which is super cost-effective. If you want to quietly appreciate the desert scenery of the cave art, it's the best time to come. 🚶5 days and 4 nights treasure itinerary DAY1⃣Arrive in Dunhuang DAY2⃣Dunhuang-Mogao Caves Scenic Area-Dunhuang Mud Painting-Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring-Stay in Dunhuang DAY3⃣Dunhuang-Yumen Pass-Yadan Devil City-Stay in Dunhuang DAY4⃣Dunhuang-Jiayuguan City-Zhangye Rainbow Danxia Sunset-Stay in Zhangye DAY5⃣Zhangye/Lanzhou Return 💓tips: The northwest scenic spots are far apart, and transportation is not so convenient. If it is the first time for friends to come to the Hexi Corridor and they don't want to make a strategy for fear of trouble, they can find a reliable local group, which is worry-free and cost-effective, and the accommodation is also good~ ✅Must check in attractions 📍Zhangye Rainbow Danxia The Danxia landform here is beautiful all year round, but the Danxia under the sunset is more beautiful, like a palette overturned by God. 📍Mogao Caves It takes at least half a day to play here, quietly appreciate the beautiful caves and murals, and then create your own Mogao Caves mud painting. 📍Mingsha Mountain. Crescent Spring There are groups of camels here, you can race camels, run horses, and sand sliding is also a good choice. 📍Yadan Devil City Countless fossils of various shapes fall on the vast wilderness, adding a bit of mystery and agility 📍The 'First Strong Pass in the World' is worthy of its name. When you climb the pass tower, this feeling of being majestic is particularly strong. 🔥Travel advice ✔️Hydrating mask: The climate is dry, which is very important for girls ✔️Sunscreen: Sunscreen, sun protection, sunburn prevention ✔️Sunglasses: Prevent sand from blowing into your eyes ✔️Hat scarf: Windproof to avoid colds, headaches caused by wind

The Famous Mogao Grottoes 🇨🇳

#2023travelwish Welcome to Gansu! 🇨🇳 📍Location: 25 kilometers southeast of Dunhuang Attractions: The Mogao Grottoes (known alternately as the Caves of the Thousand Buddhas) are hand-cut rock caves carved into cliffs. Interesting facts shared by my tour guide: There are 735 caves in total and only 60 are open to the public. When you visit this site, you will get to only see 8 caves. The caves open to the public change everyday. I’m 2023, I’d love to go back to one of my favorite cities in the world; Berlin 🇩🇪 #mogaogrottoes #gansu #dunhuang #historicculture #tripblazers

Dunhuang, Gobi Desert, China

These pictures were taken in Dunhuang, China where the silkroad lies. These are themed photos inspired by a fanmous Chinese Drama "Goodbye My Princess" . We also camped out on the desert and it was an incredible experience. Camping Accomodation: Dunhuang Vivian Desert Camping Transportation : Didi or taxi from the airport to the hotel (take note you wont go to the camping site right away because it will only start at 530 pm. ) You will be asked to go to a hotel first and leave your stuff, then just do anything you want. If you arrive early then definitely go to the Mogao Caves or a temple nearby. We are very satisfied with the arrangment. The camp expenses was only around 350 for two people with sand dunes activities, hotpot buffet for dinner with an entertainment and a bonfire fun.. JUST message me if youre interested and I can connect you with the staff. 😊 #happylaborday #dunhuang #china #chinatravel #gobidesert

Mogao Caves, Grotto Culture.

Mogao Caves, Grotto Culture.

Check in at Mogao Caves I visited all the caves But no photos are allowed inside Dunhuang Mogao Caves is the world's longest-lasting, largest, and best-preserved Buddhist grotto. It is one of the four most famous grottoes in China, along with Yungang Grottoes in Datong, Shanxi, Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, Henan, and Maijishan Grottoes in Tianshui. In March 1961, the State Council listed it as one of the first national key cultural relics protection units due to its precious historical, scientific, and artistic value. Dunhuang Grottoes include Mogao Caves, Western Thousand Buddha Caves, Yulin Caves in Guazhou, Eastern Thousand Buddha Caves, Shuixiakou Lower Cave Grottoes, Five Temple Grottoes in Subei, One Temple Grottoes, and Changma Grottoes in Yumen. As the artistic styles of the grottoes are similar, and the main Mogao Caves are located in ancient Dunhuang County, which was the political, economic, and cultural center of the region, they are collectively known as Dunhuang Grottoes. Mogao Caves is the most famous of these grottoes. The entire group of caves is carved into the cliffs on the eastern slope of Mingsha Mountain, 25 km southeast of present-day Dunhuang City. The caves face east and stretch about 1,680 meters from north to south. Since August 1, 2014, to "utilize and protect" the world cultural heritage, Mogao Caves has adopted a new visiting model. All visitors must make a reservation in advance to visit Mogao Caves. Visitors first go to the Mogao Caves Digital Exhibition Center to watch two high-definition digital films combining advanced digital technology and ancient grotto art for about 60 minutes. The films include the theme film "Millennium Mogao," which introduces the historical and cultural background of Mogao Caves, and the dome film "Dream Buddha Palace," which features a virtual tour of the essence caves of Mogao Caves from different eras. Visitors can experience the murals of Mogao Caves through the multimedia digital dome theater before visiting the caves in person. This visiting model helps reduce the time visitors spend in the caves, reduces the pressure on cultural relic protection, increases the visitor capacity of Mogao Caves, and helps visitors better appreciate Dunhuang art.

Dunhuang Super Project|Photovoltaic Power Station

|Photovoltaic Power Station. Starting from Cold Lake Town, passing through Black Mountain, Oil Town, Nine-Layer Demon Tower, on the way to Dunhuang, you can see a huge luminous body from afar. Never been to the Northwest, you can often see this huge power station in the video. I searched it specially before I came, and when I was really there, I felt its grandeur. It takes + minutes to get there from Dunhuang. It's best to shoot with a drone, if not, you can also go and see this great feat! Photovoltaic Power Plant

A Journey Through History: A Two-Way Encounter

A Journey Through History: A Two-Way Encounter

After the Northwest wind swept across China, I visited Dunhuang... When the Northwest wind finally reached every corner of the country, I couldn't resist this northwestern calling. Upon arrival, I was moved to tears by its beauty. However, this journey also had its pitfalls. If you're planning a trip to the Northwest, this detailed guide is a must-read to help you avoid common mistakes! 🔍Transportation Guide How to get there❓ 🛩By air: From Dunhuang Airport to downtown, the bus costs only CNY 10, while a taxi costs about CNY 30. 🚆By train: From the train station to downtown, public bus costs CNY 5, taxi around CNY 30. 🌟Recommended Itinerary Day1: Arrive in Dunhuang → Explore Mogao Caves → Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring Massive Concert Day2: Dunhuang Film Studio → Silk Road Heritage City → Western Thousand Buddha Caves → Yangguan Pass → Yumen Pass → Yadan National Geopark Day3: Western Jin Tombs → Suoyang City → Yulin Caves → "Boundless" and "Child of Earth" sculptures → Dunhuang Night Market ⛰Attraction Highlights - Mogao Caves: A perfect blend of ancient architecture, sculpture, and murals, the rich historical atmosphere is overwhelming. This is an absolute must-visit artistic sanctuary. - Mingsha Mountain: One ticket allows three entries! Spend CNY 100 for a camel ride through the sea of sand, where the vast sandy landscape is mesmerizing. Watch sunrise with companions in the morning, enjoy sunset in the evening, topped off with a lively massive concert - the atmosphere is absolutely perfect. - Silk Road Heritage City: Though not a natural attraction, it's perfect for photography and capturing stunning shots. - Yadan National Geopark: An excellent spot for sunset viewing! Strongly recommend taking an off-road vehicle deep into the Yadan formation for a unique experience. - Yulin Caves: As the sister site to the Mogao Caves, make sure to arrive before 3pm if you want to visit special caves. If you can't get Mogao Caves tickets, this is a great alternative. 📕Travel Tips 1. Dunhuang has strong sunlight, sun protection is crucial. 2. Highly recommend hiring a private car - it's not only convenient but also cost-effective. 3. Book Mogao Caves tickets in advance, as they're hard to get otherwise. 4. Accommodations are tight during peak season, book guesthouses and hotels early. 5. Tent accommodations may seem romantic but the experience is subpar - choose carefully. 6. Try to avoid dining at the night market. However, the fridge magnets there are good value and worth buying. 7. If attending the massive concert, be prepared to walk back as taxis might be hard to find after the show.
