Introduction Nyonya Cuisine Cooking Experiences in Melaka

Introduction
Some information may have been translated by Google Translate

Malacca invites you to step into a charming cooking class, unlock the secrets of Nyonya cuisine in this historic city, and embark on a cultural adventure on the tip of your tongue.

Course Content: The course lasts approximately 3-5 hours, focusing on the classics of Nyonya cuisine. You will learn the use of unique spices, the clever blending of coconut milk, and the creative fusion of ingredients, and experience the diverse charm of Nyonya cooking. In one class, students can make four authentic Nyonya dishes by themselves, and upon graduation they can take away a hand-drawn Nyonya recipe book with the ingredients’ sourcing locations and cultural background marked, making it easy for them to recreate the delicious dishes when they return home.

Small class teaching, experienced teachers: The class size is small, which allows the chef to pay attention to each student, and students can share travel stories and exchange their understanding of Nyonya culture. The atmosphere is warm and harmonious. Most of the chefs who teach are inheritors of Nyonya family cooking skills. They have been rooted in Malacca for generations and are proficient in traditional skills. They can talk about a lot of knowledge about Malaysian food and culture. They adopt the method of demonstrating first and then letting students practice, and provide detailed guidance to ensure that students grasp the essence.

Featured facilities: The cooking area is full of Nanyang style and well ventilated, with special copper pots and ceramic bowls. The ingredients are sourced from local markets and old shops, fresh and with local flavors, such as fragrant pandan leaves, sweet and sour tamarind and other spices and raw materials, presenting the authentic Nyonya style.

In Malacca, you can not only learn how to make authentic Nyonya cuisine, but also deeply experience the unique cultural fusion journey, and take home not only delicious food, but also the exclusive Nanyang memories left behind.

Buy MAS KCH-KUL tickets for the trip on 6/12/2022 at 5.40 am. Arrived at KLIA at 7.30 am. Rented a car with Trevo and was delivered at 9 am. Immediately left for Melaka. Upon arrival, immediately looked for Keria Gula Melaka Antarabangsa. After that, stopped to eat Cendol, Curry noodles and Penang laksa at Kedai Cendol and Putu Piring Alai. Already full while waiting to check in to Hatten Hotel at 3 pm, went for a foot massage. The best foot massage until we fell asleep. They just let us sleep. Not surprised haha. Luckily woke up. At night, took a cruise along the Melaka River. Hatten Hotel overall is really good. Amik Deluxe room + breakfast for 2. Spacious room. Very good breakfast. Widespread of variety. recommended. Check out at 12 pm, stopped first to eat asam pedas then continued to KL.

🏢 Affordable Comfort in City

#hotelreview I would recommend this compact hotel that offers all basic needs with a great price! This hotel is designed with factory-themed at every corner, to me, this is kind of refreshing feel to expect from a hotel. This hotel also has a small corner that sell their own brand merchandise too, if you like small detailed stuff, this is the small shop that you can look for too. Psst! This hotel is just about 5-10mins drive to Jonker Street, would recommend to take Grab in and out for convenience, as Malacca usually packed during weekend and difficult to find parking.

Asam Pedas - A Must Have in Malacca 🤤

Asam Pedas - A Must Have in Malacca 🤤

Went to Malacca for dinner for the sake of eating asam pedas since the original asam pedas recipe came from this historical city. Googled few famous asam pedas restaurants and found out a lot of them were closing early. Since we arrived at Malacca around 7pm already, we need to find restaurants which were closing a little bit later. Found this Asam Pedas Pasar Boring on one of the list and read that the restaurant will be closed at 2 am so there we go! There were a lot of restaurants at the same place but we went to Unang Claypot Asam Pedas since it looked tasty. And indeed, its asam pedas was very delicious and up to our taste 👍🏻

A full day in Melaka!

#100waysoftravel Take a wall-mural canal cruise through the city of Melaka! The hand painted arts are incredibly done! Each building is painted in a different style or portrays a different message or theme. These buildings often are the locations of restaurants or coffee shops. The canal is situated next to China town that is a few minutes’ walk from the pier. Afterwards, take a trip to the coast where you can see a unique sight of the seaside Mosque. White as snow during the day and beautifully lit up at night, it is a have-to-visit location! 🎟️Tips: Check the opening times of the mosque as it is closed for some hours for religious practices and tourists are not permitted to enter. #historicallandmarks #bucketlist #mytravelhacks #localguides #familytrip #trip #instatravel #malaysia #melaka #summervacation #summerdestinations

AHHHHHH Wild Coriander 🌿 !!

What a treat! While personally I am not a fan of coriander (cilantro), Wild Coriander in Melaka certainly has me considering otherwise! There is a fantastic energy about this place from the moment you are greeted at the door to the time you say goodbye. The staff are all incredibly friendly and make you feel at home! I was dining alone, and there separate staff members came over to say hello and ask me how I was enjoying Melaka. The interior of the restaurant is outstanding. With foliage inside this historic building that adds so much character and intrigue. The decor is really beautiful and it is certainly instagramable 😅 The menu here is excellent, with a wide range of Nyonya cuisine to choose from, including vegetarian 🌱 They have an extensive drinks menu and for those with a sweet tooth, a good selection of desserts to choose from. I highly recommend a trip into the Wild! #nyonya #nyonyafood #melaka #foodie #malaysia #historicallandmarks #instagramworthydestinations #instatravel

Malacca

Malacca

DISCOVER MALACCA (MELAKA) - AN ANCIENT CITY Can we go to Malaysia now, everyone, take advantage of the reduced airfares. I'm referencing in Malaysia is now quite safe and secure, but also many destinations to look at are also very satisfied. I plan to go to the ancient city of Malacca Coming to Malacca, I can refer to some of the following outstanding places: Visit Dutch Square Netherlands: I heard in front of the square is a windmill, this is the symbol of the Netherlands. The square has European-style architecture reflected in the walls, red painted roofs, wrought iron hinges. Going around this square area will surely get a lot of beautiful angles 😃 Klebang Beach: I come to Malacca mainly to rest, enjoy the fresh air, and be quiet, surely Pantai Klebang beach is also a great place to relax With a unique sand dune landscape, there's also the famous delicious coconut milkshake located next to the Caltex gas station and along the main road. I only read it briefly but I love this dish so much 😃 Jonker Night Market: I also plan to go to this place because this is the oldest neighborhood in Malacca, where this is the soul of the city center. Prominent are the rows of ancient houses, covered with moss, cafes and small eateries that are opened mainly for those who come to visit this peaceful street. It is said that in the evening the neighborhood becomes busier and busier because of the night market in the old town. I definitely won't be able to miss this place. Malacca River Cruise: I plan to take a cruise around the city on a Malacca River Cruise. Thinking about the scene, sitting on a boat floating on the river, watching the peaceful Jonker Walk old town along both sides of the river is what I like.
