You can also take bus No. 16 from Wawasan Plaza for only MYR 1.5 per person. - Best time to visit: The weather is clear from October to March, making it a great time to visit. We recommend arriving at the beach around 4 pm to enjoy the beautiful scenery and get a good spot to watch the sunset. - Tips: The beach is free to enter, but it can get crowded in the evening. You can walk along the beach to the second or third beach, which are quieter. You can also book a table at the Sunset Bar at Shangri-La Hotel, Zing Sunset Bar, or Lucy's Kitchen to watch the sunset. - Food and activities: While waiting for the sunset, you can try the barbecue and fresh coconut juice from the food stalls near the beach, or take part in water sports such as surfing, kayaking, or diving. Other places to watch the sunset - Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu: You can visit even if you are not a hotel guest. We recommend arriving about an hour before sunset. The restaurant has the perfect location for sunset. The sunset time is about 6pm, we arrive there at 5.40pm and it is the right time waiting for sunset. They provide Italian cuisine, such as Black Squid Ink Pasta, Steak, and Pizza. We ordered Lobster Bisque, Lasagne, and Lamb Shank. The Lobster Bisque taste creamy with little lobster meat. The Lamb Shank not reach my aspectation, as it is boiled and put on some sauce. The Beef Lasagna is the only dish that reach my aspectation. Overall, the environment is good and cozy. The staff are friendly and helpful, they try to get a good sunset view location for me to take photo and enjoy the view.

Catching sunset on North Borneo Cruise

Even better to witness it from a luxury yacht that provide you with delicious food, live music and fresh air from the sea. I was able to be onboard this North Borneo cruise that sail for two hours from 5pm to 7pm for only RM139. Waiting area for the yacht was easy access as well as it is at Sutera Harbour, you wouldn’t missed such a extraordinary place. It was one of the best highlights this year and I would definitely suggest it if anyone interested to visit Kota Kinabalu.
