Siem Reap invites you to step into the mysterious and charming cooking class, unlock the Khmer food code surrounded by ancient monuments, and start a cultural journey of taste.

Course content Ancient flavor: The course market usually takes about 3 hours, focusing on traditional Khmer food, such as Khmer spring rolls, green mango salad, Amok fish, etc. You will start with market purchases, learn and check various spices, vegetables, fish and other ingredients, and feel the local life atmosphere of Cambodia. Learn the unique marinating of fish, making spring roll wraps, and the use of Khmer spices to appreciate the ancient flavor. Students will personally create 4-8 authentic Siem Reap delicacies in one class, and after the course, they can also take back detailed recipes of Khmer cuisine and share this delicious memory with their families at home.

Small class teaching and deep teaching staff: The number of students in a class is usually controlled at 6-8 people. This scale makes it easier for the chef to pay attention to all students, and students can exchange their experiences of visiting Angkor. The atmosphere is warm and harmonious, which adds to the fun of learning. Most of the chefs who teach are professional chefs, or have family inheritance, and are well versed in Khmer food culture. They use the method of telling history while making, and provide detailed guidance to let students feel the fusion of food and culture.

The facilities are full of style: The cooking venues have indoor and semi-open courtyards with a strong Khmer style. Some cooking venues also have their own vegetable gardens, where they grow many spices and vegetables used in dishes, etc. Some ingredients also come from local markets and villages, fresh and simple, and original.

The cooking experience in Siem Reap is not only a journey to learn food skills, but also a rare opportunity to gain a deep understanding of local culture and lifestyle. Whether you are a culinary novice or a food enthusiast, the courses here will provide you with a unique experience and practical skills, adding an unforgettable taste and memory to your trip.

The World's Largest Temple - Angkor Wat in Cambodia (Part 1)

The World's Largest Temple - Angkor Wat in Cambodia (Part 1)

Angkor Wat, also known as the Small Angkor (Angkor Wat), is located in a rectangular area within the small circuit. Don't be fooled by the word 'small' in its name; on the contrary, Angkor Wat is the largest temple in the world, measuring 1,500 meters in length and 1,300 meters in width, covering an area of about 200 hectares. Angkor Wat is considered a symbol of Cambodia and is also one of the earliest examples of Khmer architecture, witnessing the glorious era of the Khmer Empire. The name 'Angkor Wat' translates to 'Capital Temple' in the Khmer language, indicating its significance. In 1992, Cambodia was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and in 2007, it defeated more than fifty other candidates in the global vote for the New Seven Wonders, advancing to the final twenty-one. Construction of Angkor Wat began in 1113 and took a full 37 years to complete, with the effort of the entire nation at that time. Whether in design, layout, intricacy, or scale, it can rival any of the world's most outstanding architectural works and is one of the must-visit attractions in Angkor. The outer perimeter of Angkor Wat features a 5.7-kilometer-long moat that surrounds the Small Angkor, symbolizing the ocean around the land; the rectangular inner city part of Angkor Wat measures 1,500 meters by 1,300 meters, symbolizing the Himalayas; the temple's central area has five main towers representing the five sacred mountains of Hinduism, with the central and tallest tower standing at 65 meters, symbolizing Mount Meru, the center of the world. The tips of the towers represent heaven, the dwelling place of the deities; the five main towers are situated on top of a three-tiered rectangular gallery, stacked layer upon layer like a pyramid, symbolizing the elements of earth, water, and wind at the location of Mount Meru. Inside the temple, there are nearly two thousand Apsara carvings and a large number of carvings depicting Hindu mythological stories, none of which are identical, all are masterpieces of extraordinary craftsmanship. To visit Angkor Wat, one must first cross the moat, which is filled with water from the Siem Reap River. In addition to serving a defensive purpose, the moat was also used for irrigation during the dry season and flood relief during the rainy season. While crossing the moat, take a moment to notice the carvings on both sides of the bridge, which tell the Hindu creation myth of the churning of the Ocean of Milk. After crossing the moat, visitors reach the largest central western gate of the Small Angkor, which has five gates divided according to different ranks, and the middle gate was only accessible to the king at that time. Now, all tourists can pass through this gate and experience the feeling of being a king. It is worth mentioning that among the nearly two thousand Apsara carvings within Angkor Wat, only one has a slight smile with visible teeth, located near the western gate; visitors can try to find it if they have the chance (I didn't manage to find it). Exiting the western gate leads to a straight central causeway leading to the temple of Angkor, nearly 500 meters long and nearly 10 meters wide, very imposing. On both sides, there are libraries, a common feature in many temples of Angkor. Directly in front of the libraries are two pools, which were once used for bathing before worship by the people, and now the pool on the left has become the famous Lotus Pond for watching the sunrise. The Lotus Pond is always popular because the water perfectly reflects the temple's silhouette, a common image on Cambodian postcards, especially before sunrise each day, when this spot becomes a coveted location for photographers and tourists alike. In the next part, we will continue to introduce the main hall of Angkor Wat - the first, second, and third galleries, and we will also share tips for watching the sunrise at Angkor Wat. Please stay tuned.

Must come here at least once in lifetime 🛕

#winhkflight Angkor Wat is a Hindu-Buddhist temple complex in Cambodia, located on a site measuring 162.6 hectares. It resides within the ancient Khmer capital city of Angkor. Guinness World Records considers it as the largest religious structure in the world. The architecture is super stunning and impressive. A place you must come at least once in your lifetime!!! As Angkor Wat is super big, you need to book a driver carrying you and best to have a photographer following you. The ticket is quite expensive and need to verify with identity. But definitely worth the price. I want to travel to Hong Kong to explore the cultural heritage!

Superb Fish Amok, Price Surprise!

Review for Madam Sros Restaurant - ★★★☆☆ Location: 9V43+V5H, Angkor Night Market St, Krong Siem Reap, Cambodia Ambiance/Facilities/Highlights- Traditional Khmer restaurant Avg. Price per Person - USD 3++ I recently had the pleasure of dining at Madam Sros Restaurant, a traditional Khmer restaurant, and I must admit, the Fish Amok they served was nothing short of superb. The dish was a delightful blend of flavors and spices, a true taste of Cambodia that left me wanting more. However, I cannot overlook a disappointing aspect of my time at Madam Sros. As I approached the restaurant, the prices displayed on the board outside caught my attention. To my surprise, when I received the menu, the prices were noticeably higher than what was advertised outside. This price discrepancy left me feeling cheated and misled. It is disheartening to think that the restaurant might deliberately attract customers with lower prices on the board, only to reveal higher charges once they are seated. This practice can leave a negative impression on diners, tarnishing an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. While I applaud the exquisite taste of their Fish Amok and the restaurant's efforts to create a Khmer ambiance, the issue with the pricing leaves me hesitant to recommend Madam Sros to others. Transparent pricing is crucial for building trust with customers, and this discrepancy takes away from the overall enjoyment of the meal. In summary, Madam Sros Restaurant serves exceptional Fish Amok, but the pricing issue cannot be ignored. I rate the restaurant with three stars, in hopes that they address this concern and provide a more transparent dining experience for future patrons. #2023travelwish #travel #foodie#deliciousfood #mytripvlog

Explore World Heritage Sites in Cambodia!

Angkor Thom is the ruins of a massive fortified city located in the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire, Angkor. It was the last capital of the Khmer Empire. The ruins are being engulfed by 300-year-old trees, showcasing the power of nature. It was a filming location for the movie 'Tomb Raider,' and the moss-covered ruins with sprawling tree roots are reminiscent of famous Japanese animated films. Entrance tickets are priced at 37 USD for a one-day pass and 62 USD for a three-day pass, which allows you to visit all the World Heritage sites in Siem Reap. Due to the numerous World Heritage sites, a three-day pass is recommended.

Angkor Wat ⭐️ Amazing Architectural Wonder – A Must-Visit!

Angkor Wat is truly one of the most breathtaking historical sites in the world! The sheer size and intricate carvings left me in awe. Walking through the temple feels like stepping back in time, with every corner telling a story through its detailed bas-reliefs. Highlights: ✅ Majestic Architecture – The five towers symbolize Mount Meru, and the massive moat adds to its grandeur. ✅ Stunning Sunrise Views – Arriving early to watch the sun rise over the central spires is an unforgettable experience. ✅ Intricate Carvings – The bas-reliefs depicting Hindu epics and celestial dancers (apsaras) are mesmerizing. ✅ Blend of Hindu & Buddhist Influence – Originally a Hindu temple, now an active Buddhist site. ✅ Great for Photography – Every angle offers a picture-perfect moment, especially during golden hour.

Angkor Wat: Cambodia’s most iconic temple 😍

If you’re heading to Cambodia, you’re almost certainly going to be making a stop at the country’s most iconic site, Angkor Wat. The famed complex, consisting of over 100 temple ruins right outside of Siem Reap, is the country’s most visited destination- and also holds the title as the world’s largest religious monument. I took a bus to Angkor Wat at about 4am in the morning in order to catch the sunrise there. It was so stunning and I was blown away. I managed to capture the dreamy image of the temple’s iconic towers which reflects perfectly in the water once the sun illuminates them for the first time that morning. In order to visit Angkor Wat, you can get the Angkor Pass to visit it. There are over 100 temples so I took 2 days to slow explore it. They have different durations for the pass. #timetotravel #weekendgetaways #cambodia #angkorwat

Angkor Wat in Cambodia (3)

Angkor Wat in Cambodia (3)

Angkor Wat in Cambodia, along with the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal in India, and Borobudur in Indonesia, is one of the four architectural wonders of East Asia. Angkor Wat is divided into east, south, west, and north corridors, each corridor is further divided into two wings. It is the largest ancient site in the Angkor ruins and the only temple facing west. The pattern on the Cambodian flag, with three pointed towers, is modeled after the appearance of Angkor Wat.
