Zhongwei No.7 Starry Sky Tent Hotel

The tent was clean and well-equipped. Even though it was only 4°C the night we checked in, the tent was very warm thanks to the air conditioning. It even had a private bathroom, which is quite a rare find for a tented hotel. The staff, especially 'Xiao Zhi', were very attentive. They sent out hotel activity updates in advance, and whenever we requested a car, they responded immediately. The service was truly excellent. As a hotel guest, we also got a discount on the Tonghu Grassland activity package – a direct ¥130 off the ¥260 price, which was a great saving. Compared to everything else, the food was probably the weakest link. Both breakfast and the buffet dinner in Block B had limited variety, and the taste was just standard hotel fare. I'm curious to know what it's like in Block A.

Great! There are plenty of activities for families with kids. The dining options were also richer than I expected; the hotpot dinner was perfect for our large family, catering to everyone's tastes. The desert is right outside, and the kids absolutely loved it, they didn't want to leave!

Overall, it was a very good experience. Excellent value for money. The complimentary bonfire show was genuinely good, not just a perfunctory performance. The service was also very attentive, and both the included meals and the à la carte lunch were delicious. The only downside is that the tent itself is a bit basic, so keep that in mind.

The butler will contact guests a day in advance. The hotel is located inside the Tonghu Scenic Area, and the room rate includes admission tickets. This is the only hotel in the scenic area, so there are no outsiders. The hotel's front desk is at the main entrance of the Tonghu Grassland Scenic Area, with free parking. There's a 4x4 shuttle service within the area. The Starlight Restaurant is right next to the tent area, making dining convenient. It usually includes a buffet breakfast and a buffet hot pot dinner with good quality ingredients and a wide selection. There's a shuttle service to the bonfire party, which features a high-quality equestrian show, not just simple amateur entertainment. The rooms are tents. Our room type only had a password lock on the tent zipper, but since there are no outsiders in the park, it felt safe. Soundproofing isn't great because it's a warm tent. Each room type has a private bathroom and toilet, also in an attached tent form. Amenities are complete, including Crocs-style slippers and body lotion. The stand-up air conditioner heats and cools quickly, and there's also an oil-filled radiator for heating. It's hot during the day and cold at night, so you need to use both heating and cooling throughout the day. It's dry, so you can hang a wet towel. There are sand toys and sand sleds everywhere outside the room, and sand dunes right outside your tent, so you can play freely. Everything you could need is provided. If you stay for multiple nights, you'll need to drive quite a distance to visit other places during the day. Actually, one night and the next morning are sufficient. There are plenty of daytime activities, making it suitable for families with children. However, adults can use the daytime for excursions.

The futuristic capsule hotel offers a novel experience with smart controls, which is pretty good. However, the cleanliness is just so-so, possibly due to limited conditions in the desert. The breakfast and dinner selections were very limited. The most surprising thing was that a hotel primarily for families didn't even have children's cutlery in its restaurant. The butler service was practically non-existent; I had to wait a long time for no response before making a voice call. Although there weren't many guests on the night of our check-in, the service response was still very slow. I hope the hotel improves its service. The evening bonfire show was quite good and unique. For photos in the astronaut suit, they insisted I post on Xiaohongshu first to get it for free, and the suit itself was extremely dirty – the neck rim was completely black, and the suit was torn. The shoes they provided didn't even match. While the photos turned out okay, the overall experience was hard to describe. All in all, experiencing it once is enough. If you absolutely want to stay in the desert with family, the Starry Hotel is a better option.

This stay was fantastic! The hotel was exceptionally clean, with no strange smells or overlooked spots, and all the facilities were in excellent working order. The service was attentive and thorough; check-in was quick, and requests were handled promptly. The environment was quiet, allowing for a great night's rest. It offers excellent value for money, and I'll definitely choose this place again for my next trip.

Facilities: The stargazing tent facilities are excellent. I visited in winter, and it wasn't cold at all inside, very warm, and the hot water was great. Cleanliness: It was very clean. Despite being a desert hotel, there was hardly any sand in the room; it was impeccably cleaned. Service: The butler contacted me in advance and met me at the entrance. They explained how all the facilities worked and also sent WeChat messages beforehand with the daily activity schedule, which was fantastic.
