Visited the hotel with girlfriends on a long weekend ski break. The hotel is wonderfully situated with lake views at every window. We had a twin room, with a separate shower and toilet. There was a lot of additional furniture in the room, including a desk and chair. We did a bit of furniture removal with the help of housekeeping and made the room perfect for two of us sharing. Towels and sheets where changed on the 3rd day. Buffet breakfast with hot and cold options set us up for the days skiing. A free shuttle to the closest lift (it’s not far but all uphill so don’t try it in ski boots) went every 30 mins in the morning. Dinner options are chosen in the morning, with 3 courses and a salad bar. On Sunday night there was a buffet style dinner, with lots of variety. They don’t offer a post ski hot drink or cake as some hotels do. There was soup on offer. However there is a well stocked tea/coffee station in the room and lots of places to buy snacks from as you come back to the hotel. The spa and fitness area was in the basement but again overlooking the glorious lake vista. Swimsuits are optional in the steam/sauna so may not suit us reserved Brits! The ski area is fantastic and we where blessed with fresh snow each day and all 3 ski areas can be accessed from the shuttle bus drop off.
Salzburgerhof, Das 5-Sterne Hotel Von Zell am See

We ski in Austria every year with family, always at a 5 Star Hotel. This is by far the WORST family ski hotel in Austria. It’s ridiculous that it has been allowed to keep its rating. No help with bags on checkin. We had to drag them from the street ourselves. Our flight was late, we arrived at 9pm and were told there was no food available at the hotel. No room service menu. No chance of the kitchen making our hungry child a sandwich. At 9pm. We were confused as we could see that the restaurant was still sending out plates of food to guests sitting at the tables. We asked why we couldn’t sit down and maybe have some cheese and fruit (we had paid for dinner for the whole family that night). They refused to let us. Our daughter was upset but they wouldn’t even give her a piece of bread. Come here if you feel like begging for scraps like Oliver Twist on your first night! The hotel is quite far from the lifts. It says it provides a ski lift shuttle bus until 5pm. We waited for half an hour at the ski lifts but the bus didn’t come. We rang the hotel reception and they said it would be 15mins. We ended up walking and the bus was parked outside the hotel. Empty. No sign of a driver. My husband politely asked at reception why the bus hadn’t come for us. Their answer? “We bend over backwards for our guests. He’s on his way.” He pointed out that we were already returned so it wasn’t much help. Blank face. Turned to another guest. So come ski here! It’s fabulously awful. The Tyrolerhof next door looks great btw. I have attached two pictures, one of us trudging home and one of the bus waiting at reception while they bend over backwards to ignore us.

My apologies for being so late in reviewing this hotel. We, a group of 4 friends from Waterford , Ireland stayed there in January 2024. My friends not having not previously experienced Austrian culture nor Austrian ski resorts were blown away by our week stay at the St Georg. We arrived approximately 8pm and we were met by the ever friendly Danielle who checked us in and made us all feel so welcome. Breakfasts as you would expect was as a typical European Buffett and the atmosphere in the dining area always relaxed, cordial and professional. I was late one morning, but was afforded a last minute cup of coffee to wake me up. 😂 Proximity to the nearest gondola. Walk downhill for 5 mins or go the gondola and get the Schillerstraße bahn bus up to the middle station. Just follow the river directly across from the hotel. You won’t get lost. 😉 This hotel has everything . Good food, super staff, swimming pool, sauna but most of all this family knows how to run a business and continued success to them. Having been in Austria for many years skiing, this Hotel was definitely one of my favourites. Oh and don’t forget to say Hello to Karl at the bar. Looks like a WWE wrestler but is in fact a friendly giant. Thanks guys. Hopefully see ye next year.

So, if you are looking for a budget hotel ..stop reading. This is “erste Klasse“, you pay and will get everything you need. The hotel is very modern, not at a traditional Austrian hotel. The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The every day cleaning is flawless. The breakfast is very.. I say very good… if you have included spa in your stay, you will enjoy something special… there different saunas.. spacious areas to relax… if you want to take a swim.. the hotel has two … indoor and outdoor.. it’s up to you… Why I love this hotel is that the service is great and the atmosphere is .. well it’s really relaxing.. you don’t get the feeling of that you are staying at a railway station.. if you get the feeling….but the downside is that you have to pay for this … well you only live once…

We don't usually write reviews, but this hotel deserves a review because we had an unusual experience that meant a lot to us. If you are looking for a hotel that will provide you with standard services, this hotel will certainly not be a bad choice. Everything was flawless and in order. The staff was always nice and helpful. The food was perfect and the wellness was exclusive. In fact, everything corresponded to the exact Austrian quality and higher standards of a demanding guest. However, the reason why I decided to write a review happened on the last day. My wife lost a family jewel that meant a lot to her. In most hotels, they would tell you that they are sorry for the situation, but unfortunately there is nothing they can do. However, Hotel Alpenblick faced the matter head on. For several days, they blocked a room that they could not rent. They called a carpenter and had him disassemble the bed because the chain got stuck behind the headboard and after three days they called us to say that they managed to find the chain and want to send it to us. I travel a lot and this approach to a guest who is no longer in the hotel can only be expected from a family guesthouse, where you know what tradition and family values mean. We really appreciate their approach and are very happy to have been guests. For us it became an unforgettable experience not only because of the great service, but also because of the absolutely above-standard approach of the owners and the entire staff. I can recommend the hotel because with your visit you will support family values and not a global society.
