I'm really glad me and a friend stayed in Zaton instead of the busy Dubrovnik. The views are stunning and the place is right next to the beach. We got upgraded from one room to a bungalow so ended up with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living room and our own terrace with loungers! couldn't be happier about this. There are some wonderful restaurants minutes walk from Mali Raj and boat tours which happen every day (leaving at 9am, returning at 6-7pm). You get to visit 3 islands for 300KN. The bus 12 or 35 go directly to Dubrovnik Port or Old Town, the fee is 14KN each way. It takes about 15 minute to get to Dubrovnik by bus, Darko will show you the time table. Oh, by the way, don't bother looking for mystery caves, they don't exist ! But if you go that way you can find a wonderful place to sunbathe and swim (wear good shoes as it's pretty steep on the way down). Also, another advice: the winds at night are really strong so if you are drying something outside do tie it up or it will fly off. Darko was a great host, he picked us up at the airport and was incredibly accommodating. If we visit again we will definitely stay in Mali Raj.
