Balcony Boutique Hotel

I almost hate to write this glowing review since it will mean in the future, more people will take advantage of this absolutely perfect hotel on Zakinthos which will mean less access for people like me. However, having stayed in many hotels over the years, most middle range, some a bit expensive, the Balcony Hotel, in my opinion is as perfect as it gets. Perched high on a cliff overlooking the beautiful Ionian Sea with a magnificent view down below, it was a little slice of heaven. Spotlessly clean, sumptuous included breakfasts with something for every taste (they even made special entrees for my vegan niece), extremely comfortable beds and well appointed rooms, gracious and ever helpful and knowledgeable and accessible staff, this place was well thought out in every possible way to provide the best experience a weary traveler can have. If it were up to me, I would have spent my entire time in Greece staying there. I simply cannot think of one thing I would improve on. And if you’re smart, you will come to depend on the staff as we did to help you find good restaurants, water adventures, shuttle options, and sightseeing tips for everything Zakinthos which is now probably my favorite Greek Island. Snorkeling at the Blue Cave at Kerri was the highlight for me after the magical wedding of my niece Katie at a small exquisite Greek Orthodox Church where the locals clapped as we left the church, followed by the reception at the Balcony Hotel which matched the service in every way. Five stars for me for the Balcony Hotel in Tsilivi and their staff. To believe this review, you only have to experience it, and lucky you if you do.

Lovely clean hotel. 5 mins from restaurants and shops but feels really peaceful and secluded. Rooms cleaned every day and staff were all really helpful. Pool never crowded even in peak season and sun beds really plush and comfortable and plenty of them. Good air conditioning , large fridge. Couldn’t fault the hotel for price. Kalamaki is a good base to explore the island. Beach is 10-15 mins walk - ok beach but there are far more beautiful beaches and coves on the island.

We were not informed that Laganas is one of the party towns of Zakynthos as we decided to go there only a few days upfront. So we were surprised and a bit afraid when arriving at night.  But we only can recommend this 10 room hotel: if you look for a quiet place not far from the town center and beach (5 min walk) The rooms are very quiet and from a higher class. They are cleaned every day. There is a parking lot and a nightguard. The pool is also very nice, but do not expect a bar at the pool as this is the purpose to keep this a quiet place. The owner Angela is a very warm person, she will help you with any matter and is your fixer for everything you ask. BTW: Call her ”Madame Angela”, she likes that !
Callinica Hotel

We spent a week in one of Callinicas apartments with a private pool. It was absolutely amazing. 2 beautiful bedrooms each with their own ensuite. Stunning kitchen and the pool is amazing. Much bigger than expected. This isn't just a little splash pool. The water came up to my chin. The surrounding deck is equipped with table, chairs, sunbeds and beanbags. The choice of sun or shade is yours. Oh I mustn't forget the smart tvs that allowed us to access our Netflix, You Tube and Amazon accounts or the Tassimo machine. We didn't want to leave our luxury apartment and come home. Well donr Callinica. Warm, friendly staff and yummy food.
Metaxa Hotel

The main issue was that the hotel is located in a different place than indicated on the map. This made it a bit difficult to find it. And the walk to the beach is a bit longer than estimated. Nevertheless, the room was clean and comfortable. The stuff was friendly and eager to help. But for the majority of additional services there is extra charge. Maybe this is how the low room cost is compensated. It seems rational to some extent but it is the first time for me to see extra charge for the Wi-Fi. Some common facilities appear a bit outdated. Would better be refreshed. In general my stay was trouble free and comfortable. I recommend the place and I would go again.
Vanessa Hotel

We stayed here for 11 nights and was really happy we chose this place. When we first got there I was a bit worried about how close to the main road we was, but it really didn’t effect us at all. It’s in a great central location. Rooms are basic, as always in Greece so this wasn’t a problem, but very spacious and cleaned every other day. Beds changed, fresh towels. The kitchen was was adequate, mind you I was surprised that a toaster wasn’t standard but the hotel happily lent me one for the duration of my stay for the kids breakfast. Everyone was very friendly and always willing to help. The pool area was good, especially having the separate Childrens pool with slide. My husband was slightly disappointed having seen reviews and pics about a pool table as that has now been removed. The bar / restaurant area was run by a nice team and the food we had was nice, we used it several times during our stay, one of which was their Greek night and that was packed and a real good night. We will defo return to Kalamaki and will come back to the Vanessa.
