A place I stopped by while backpacking solo!
The facilities were great, and I was very satisfied with the dinner and breakfast.
The owner took me on a night tour.
I went out with other travelers to see the fireflies in a car.
The night sky was beautiful, and it was a great place to relax.
I especially recommend this place to anyone planning a trip to the Jigokudani (Hells of Beppu).
You can get to the Jigokudani (Hells of Beppu) inexpensively by taking a bus from the bus terminal in front of Yufuin Station!
Some of the Jigokudani (Hells of Beppu) are a bit far away, so I recommend taking the bus on hot days.
I walked everywhere, but... I regretted taking a bus or taxi. Haha. Still, it was worth it!

This is my second time. The hot springs were great. The food was delicious and I could have as many refills as I wanted.
As you'd expect from a youth hostel, there were evening activities and the farewell song they sang when we left was great.

This was a very friendly place with delicious food.
The room was only for sleeping, and all other amenities were shared, but everything was explained clearly, making even this a unique experience.
While the bathhouse was a bit disappointing, the food and hospitality were 300% satisfying, so I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Yufuin.

The hostel is a bit difficult to access by foot if you are coming by public transport. The host brought us out for walks after dinner, with stunning night views of the city. Order breakfast and dinner as their food was delicious. The common space/lounge is perfect to chill, make new friends and read.

The service they provide is up and beyond. I love how this whole place is set up in such a way for people to mingle. I wish I could have stayed longer and chat with the people. Unfortunately I think it was off peak season so there weren't many people. The owner is generous and friendly, people that stays there are good natured people. The owners sang country road to everyone that leaves in the morning, very heart warming and eye teary especially when I met a wonderful old couple from kagoshima during the wonderfully made breakfast. The common area, which is the dining area, has a scenic view of outside, and the main city that lights up a little at night and beautifully decorated interior. It feels like home. I also enjoyed the indoor onsen too. My favourite bit was the classical music playing in the background, and how accessible it is, like a backyard. If you stay here, return the deed by being good guests.
