I really like the homestay I stayed in in Gongtan Ancient Town this time. It is located in the first row along the river, so I don’t have to go through the pain of dragging a suitcase up the bluestone steps (the highest one is said to be 8 or 9 stories high). The business is run by a young couple. The first floor is a cafe with a few cats, and the second and third floors are guest rooms, which are clean and compact with great views. Of course, the hardware cannot be compared with that of chain hotels. The lack of dry and wet separation in the bathroom may discourage friends with high demands, but it can be seen that the operators are trying their best to do their best within the limited conditions of the ancient town. It’s a pity that I only stayed in the town for one night during this hasty trip. I hope I’ll have the opportunity to stay here for a few more days in the future.
