We visited The Ely Hotel this evening for a family dinner while on vacation from Canada. There was a great selection of food on the menu. I had the Toad in the Hole and it was excellent, as was the Sticky Toffee pudding. Service was great. I would highly recommend The Ely for a fantastic dinner.

Gorgeous! The room was spotless and I could live in that bed! Bathroom, amenities were spot on and the food was to die for! Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Extra points for the chocolate on the pillow. It’s little touches like that which makes it stand out. Would absolutely stay here again!

My Wife and I had our Wedding Anniversary Meal at the Ely, firstly we arrived early and were still seated straight away on a nice corner table, Our waitress Sophie bent over backwards to make sure we were looked after, even comping our deserts (told us early to leave some room), as was our anniversary, Daisy took over for our mains and averted a disaster when my wife discovered the roast had the gravy poured over the roast, as we forgot to mention this on ordering. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone, we were never rushed, never bothered whilst eating, or felt we needed to move, even after finishing our meals, which was a good thing too as were royally stuffed full. Trip was rounded off by sitting outside in the sunshine to finish our drinks. Awesome Service, awesome venue, amazing food, thanks to all, we will definitely return. Highly recommended

Had a bad experience at the Ely recently, We had arranged to meet friends for a meal and from the moment we arrived we were rushed through all the courses and my coffee which was only half drunk was taken away. At the end of the meal we were asked to pay a tip in cash so that they didnt have to share it with other colleagues that werent working that night. As soon as we had paid we were than asked to leave the table and sit at the bar if we wanted to continue talking to our friends. Not happy to be rushed and certainly not happy to be asked to leave especially as it was only 9.45pm when we had finished. The food wasnt exactly brilliant either , so i will not be returning.
