5 out of 5. We freedom camped behind the Yandaran Hotel for 2 nights. The pub does have limited accommodation if you’re not camping. This is a small county pub which is popular Thursday to Sunday with friendly locals and travellers, we arrived on a Monday. Under new ownership this pub is well set up for families and travellers, with lots of areas to sit outside and activities and toys for children. The pub is clean, tidy and accommodating with various areas to sit inside and out. A good fire in the corner for any chilly nights. Our lovely host ‘Grannie at the Yannie’ (who was also our friendly bar lady) greeted us warmly, we felt very welcomed. We enjoyed a pre dinner drink before ordering our meals. The menu was simple and more than adequate for a Monday evening. Geoff and I both ordered a steak sandwich with chips (fries) - we were not disappointed. A real piece of steak cooked beautifully with lettuce, tomato and onions. Chips were delicious and crunchy. We met the chef and thanked him for our delicious meal. My apologies as I have forgotten his name. There were another couple who were also freedom camping, they ordered the pizza which was freshly made and looked scrumptious too. **note for campers - if you are freedom camping, you may wish to use ear plugs as the train tracks are in close vicinity to the pub with trains running the the night. I’ll wear my ear plugs tonight. The men’s toilets are open during the night however the ladies bathroom is inside the pub so it’s not accessible when the pub closes. Ladies are welcomed to use this during the night. Definitely well worth staying if you’re looking for somewhere to stay as a base to Angus Waters and surrounding areas.

Arrived with friends, checked the menu; dinning room, outside dining. We ate in the dining room; due to renovations in the outdoor dining area. The meal was excellent; the beers icy cold, wine was chilly. No complaints from us or our friends. Recommend to all, Tracey is welcoming, the girls in the kitchen did an excellent job with the meals.

We stopped off for a couple of drinks, ended up having three each and paid a different price for each round. The dearest was $18.25, the cheapest $14.50 so quite a discrepancy. Food wasn't great unfortunately. I ordered the seafood basket, the fish had no taste at all. The coating on the outside of the prawns was very thick. There were 4 prawns, 2 scallops, 3 calamari rings and 1 piece of fish, with plenty of chips which were nice if you like chicken salt. $30 was too much for the basket considering the quality of the seafood. My partner had the steak sandwich, which he said was "nothing to write home about". We will go back but probably not to eat. Live music was advertised on the board out front but there was no one playing.

Food was very expensive, 2 steak sandwiches and 3 cans of softdrink for takeaway lunch cost us $56. Toast was burnt and when I asked for no chips I was told I had no choice as that's how it came. Chips were subsequently thrown away as was the surrounding burnt crust of the sandwich.

Stopped in here for a few beers on the way to Mira. Great place to relax the grand kids had a run around in the back. Cold beer. We came back and got a few takeaway cartons. The price was pretty good.

Staying at the Miara Caravan Park and made the short dive back to this pub for a beautiful freshly made meal which we could not fault. Great friendly country hospitality and good value. Best meal we have had in 6 weeks of travelling .
