The hotel is located in the city of Yamagata. You need to transfer to the JR station to get there by bus. If you arrive too late, you may not be able to take the bus to the city. It is recommended for self-driving tourists. Although the hotel is quite historic, the rooms are clean and the facilities are good. There is a lawson and a hot spring for guests in the basement. There is also a hotel-only indoor parking lot next to it, which costs 700 yen per night. If you just want to park overnight, there are other cheaper parking options nearby. There are also many restaurant options nearby.
When I made my reservation, only smoking rooms were available, so I was worried about the smell, but when I called the day before to inquire about the snow conditions and parking situation, the front desk person kindly changed my room to a non-smoking room that was available.
I had a very comfortable stay.
The hotel is located in Nanukamachi, Yamagata's central commercial district, close to major attractions. It's a 20-minute walk from Yamagata Station. Alternatively, you can take a 100-yen bus. Check-in is at the main building across the street.

A little far from the station, a bit old hotel, but you can see that it has been carefully maintained. Other than the dim lighting, everything else is pretty good
This has long been my regular lodging when I stay at a hotel in Yamagata for business trips, and before COVID-19 I often used the 3,000 yen (tax included) plan, which was limited to a few rooms.
As the country has recovered from COVID-19, the price has been raised to 5,000 yen, but I still think it's good value for money.
You should be aware of the weak WiFi, and if you're going to be working on a computer, it's probably best to have your own means of communication.
Best experience I could get from this place was the owner being a great cook and exceptional with her conversations and mannerisms in sending and welcoming her customers.
Location is wonderful too, as it is quiet yet not far from the main areas to eat and transit in Yamagata. Honestly 1 of a hidden gem.
Only drawback would probably be the hot tub as she is handling it on her own and if there are multiple people living there that night, it can get a little dirty, so I'll keep to using the showers would do.
Love the place so much!
Very satisfied, although the furnishings are a bit old, but it has a sense of age and is very clean.
The Japanese breakfast is especially good. It changes every day.
1. Location of the hotel is nice!
2. Double Room size is pretty small which is 140m2 onlty! So, I would not reccomend those who have kids!
3. Toilet is very tiny! also bathtub can't fit a small kid!
4. The Freezer is very small! I have never seen such a small freezer. So, couldn't fit our Bento Box!
5. The hotel is old, and not properly maintained, for example; shower curtain is broken, and attach it with tape!
Super close to the train station. The rooms are comfy and bright. The staff were incredibly friendly, warm, and attentive. Breakfast was pretty standard, similar to what you'd get at a Toyoko Inn, with a lot of the items seemingly being prepared from frozen. It's definitely on my list for my next visit to Yamagata!
