The place a lot of spiders in my room with a spider crawling out of my bath towel and another over our bed when we woke up. Had issues with noisy air conditioning and empty bottles of bath supplies in our rooms as well. This was combined with a very slow service during breakfast with long lines for food.

We were traveling in the area for a family trip. Booked this hotel based on location and the price was good. The room and staff were awesome! The room was large and clean and the front desk staff was super helpful and friendly. The pool was also very nice and very clean and stocked with towels. If we are ever in that area again we will definitely stay there.

I booked Hyatt Place Grand Rapids South through Priceline (Trip #892-686-035-18) and had one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. • At check-in, the hotel told me my reservation “wasn’t paid,” despite Priceline already withdrawing funds and sending me confirmation. They attempted to double-charge me for a non-refundable room. • I called Priceline support at 10:40 PM on 8/29/25 and didn’t receive a callback until 11:02 PM. I remained on the phone until nearly 12 AM on 8/30/25, speaking to two different reps for almost an hour, while the hotel kept denying my family entry. My two exhausted children had to sleep in lobby chairs during this mess. • After 30+ minutes, the front desk suddenly “found” my reservation. • The room itself was disgusting: sticky/soiled coffee mugs, sticky water glasses, cobwebs in every bathroom corner, and a toilet with visible fecal matter smeared across the rim and exterior. This was unsafe, unsanitary, and completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone Hyatt. Priceline failed to support me, and Hyatt failed to provide a clean, safe room. Avoid this property and booking through Priceline at all costs.

Why Hyatt rooms seem to be comfortable the TV service is so bad. I have stayed at 3 Hyatt's now in the past month and all had no wifi service for there TV. Was so disappointed. Glad I had my computer to watch my programs such as Netflix or Prime Video.

Inept staff and pillows that were both dirty and so small. Front desk clerk checked us into a room after about 10 minutes of not being able to use her computer and then sent us to the top floor with keys that did not work. Pillows on the bed were dirty and are about half the size of regular pillows, so it was an uncomfortable stay. I cannot and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We booked the Hyatt South for a June wedding weekend. After confirming Friday availability by phone, I booked directly, received an email confirmation, and cancelled my backup hotel. When we arrived Friday at 10:00 p.m., the front desk told me my reservation had been cancelled. They claimed a “credit card on file” was declined—but the number they had wasn’t mine, and I was never asked to provide a card in my phone call. They also insisted they tried to call me on Friday, yet my phone records show no missed calls, no email, no text. Instead, the hotel cancelled both Friday and Saturday nights, leaving us stranded late in a fully booked city. We ended up driving home and scrambling to find another room for Saturday. I’ve stayed at Hyatt Downtown Grand Rapids many times without issue, but this Hyatt was nothing but problems: wrong credit card, no notice, cancelled reservations, and no accountability. When I complained, the manager said they did all that was required and offered “significant” loyalty points. That vague offer was never quantified, and my several follow-ups were ignored. Hyatt cancelled a confirmed reservation, left us without lodging, and ignored my attempts to resolve it. After I redeem or discard my existing points, I’ll be closing my Hyatt account and taking my business elsewhere.

Reserved room to attend a wedding. Upon arrival [although early] was told early check in would not be a problem. After checking with housekeeping to verify that cleaned empty rooms were available, [they were] was informed it would be an "extra" $50 to check in. This was explained as "policy" and nothing could be done otherwise, I could talk to the manager on Monday. Having to pay extra for a room that was reserved, clean, and empty is to say the least outrageous. Early/late check in and out is a common courtesy at most, if not all chains we have stayed with in the past. Providing there is available rooms/times. To add insult to injury, although I was not able to reach the manager, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.....I left several voicemails, and NEVER received a return call. Was told rather bluntly on my last attempt "our manager doesn't take calls about refunds..." T take it all to yet another level....The "management" has placed a white board announcement in the lobby, proudly announcing that they will "reward" with 500 points for good reviews.......They would be much better served with providing excellent customer service as a "policy" vs a policy of charging fees for common courtesy...
