The Swan Inn

Checked into hotel and was not told why where was ear plugs in the room. Untill every 15 minutes you can hear the church bells. This went on all night. Not their fault but should warn customers that you won’t sleep at all.

I stayed for three nights. The bed was comfortable and the church bell didn't bother me (in fact, quite pleasant). The room was sparsley furnished - a shelf rather than drawers. The breakfast was good. The downside is that they are geared up for one nighters. No servicing of the room. If I needed new tea, towels, toilet rolls etc I had to ask in the pub. A cleaner told me she'd been told not to go into rooms still being used. I guess this started with covid - but that's long over. The rooms are outside the pub, so if it's closed (eg at night) there's no staff around. It's a shame I can't give a better write up - it's a lovely place - but the lack of room service lets them down.

I stayed here overnight while on a trip for work. The rooms are very comfortable, set off the side of the pub in a converted barn. They are very modern, the bathroom was clean and had a very nice shower. The room had all the usual facilities you'd expect to see. There was a hair dryer, but no iron. Tea, coffee, kettle and biscuits were offered next to the bed which was was comfortable although what the pub does not tell you, is that there is a church across the way which rings it's bells every hour, on the hour and once every 15 minutes! I did wonder why the supplied ear plugs in the bathroom... I don't sleep much when away with work anyway, but it did impact whatever little sleep I did manage to get. It's fine for one night, but any more would be uncomfortable due to the church bells I'd imagine! The breakfast was tasty, I had the full English vegetarian option, but cereals were offered beforehand and the breakfast came with toast, coffee and juice. Sadly the dinner options at the pub did not offer much for vegetarians which is disappointing and I didn't manage to eat anything except a stick toffee pudding and custard - probably why I ate so much at breakfast the next day! Overall the bed was comfy and the breakfast was good but the church bells do affect the rating I'd give The Swan Inn. I didn't drive for this trip, but the parking is vast and free which is always a bonus and right outside the rooms.

We stayed at this lovely pub whilst attending a wedding some miles away. Clean, comfortable, well equipped rooms. Staff couldn't do enough to help, from arranging early check in before we had to leave for the wedding, to recommending a reliable taxi for return journey, when we had struggled to find one to pre book. Breakfast was available as an extra and was generous and tasty. We intend to arrange for another stay to explore the area.

Spent 2 nights here when up for a wedding. By chance, we were allocated room 7, which is at the end of the row of rooms by the car park. It has a fabulous view and is spacious and comfortable. Lovely landlady and owner. The pub is joyful, with an eccentric style and decor we loved. Many curios and interesting objects.
