Trailborn Surf & Sound

I love the fresh look and feel of Trailborn. My oceanfront room was very comfortable. My only regret was that the restaurant was understaffed for breakfast, which I was looking forward to for a leisure start to the day.

Beautiful property. Big shout out to Robert, the Manager. He is so accommodating and helpful. He made our experience extra special!

Things can go wrong, it’s how you make up for it that matters! Our room wasn’t ready upon check in. The allowed us to use the pool while we waiting and there were six beers and a stuffed animal for our daughter when we arrived in our room. We had a ‘sound view’ room and I thought that was better than the ocean view. More activity and prettier sights. Spacious room, courteous staff and lots of activities available. We will be back!!

The hotel is beautiful and I loved the aesthetic. The staff was great and was always happy to help and answer any questions. I appreciated that the hotel gave us a 25 dollar credit to use daily. The hotel also gives complementary beach chairs and umbrellas. However, people do like to hog them and proceed not to use most of the chairs they take. It leaves some people without chairs and it’s very annoying. The hotel needs either more beach chairs and umbrellas or have someone assign people to chairs on the beach. The hotel also is in need of more parking spots.

I could have not asked for a more perfect getaway for a few nights! This is my first trip back since the remodel, and I was wowed as soon as I walked in the door! The beauty and warmth that greets you makes you feel immediately at home. From the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms to the beauty of my view of the sound.(best sunset view on the island) I didn’t think that anything would be able to impress me more than it already had. I was wrong. The staff was so welcoming, polite, and helpful. Everyone I came in contact with made my stage that much more enjoyable. As always, I was greeted with a giant smile from Ron when I pulled up to the valet stand. I feel that Alex and and Robert definitely went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and comfortable throughout my stay. Mackenzie and Laura thank you for the excellent service and conversation in the restaurant and pool bar. This is definitely the resort that I have come to love and visit many times over the years. I look forward to many more vacations.

Once again a beautiful trip that made me feel special and spoiled. As always, the front desk checked me in quickly and kindly. Robert and Alex were amazing! I arrived at a busy time of day w/ check ins, but things went quickly and smoothly. I decided to extend my stay and Robert offered to have my luggage moved to my new room so I didn't have to leave the beach. Excellent service! Valet was ever present and working hard to help everyone. My rooms were clean and well appointed. Service in the restaurant was on par at breakfast (shout out to Laura who is always attentive and kind) and at dinner. Food was delicious. The Blockade Surf bar was so much fun! The bartenders are kind and do everything they can to accommodate! They appear to love their jobs! There were rarely empty seats there. The servers out there were extra busy b/c it was so hot on the beach. It felt like everyone stayed up at the pool. My only negative, was the beach staff. They don't greet the guest and barely look at them. Most (not all, but most) don't really seem interested in assisting guest w/ chairs and umbrellas. Very nonchalant and more interested in carrying on their own conversation. And yet, they have a very large box with a TIPS sign on it. Seems pretty tacky to me. I've been staying at the hotel for YEARS and have never seen a tip jar or box anywhere. The beach staff was the only place I saw uninterested staff. The hotel is beautiful and I will continue to be loyal. I did notice an issue with towels for the pool and beach - there were none to be found. They may need to consider having an attendant for them (like in the past) on busy weekends to ensure guest do not take 4-8 towels when they only need two. Back in the day, guest had to provide their room number and were only allowed 1 towel per person. On busy weekends only. I'm looking forward to staying again very soon!
