The bed is too soft. This hotel is more than 10 years old and very traditional. It is clean and hygienic but I couldn't sleep at night. There is a radiator in the room, but the faucet design is very bad. It can only run cold water on one side and hot water on the other.

Overnight stay in this location that in the past we have used before so was quite looking forward to it. Check in was friendly, however room was small and dated. It’s was nice to see a fan had been placed in the room to combat the warm nights. We went downstairs for a drink and relax from our long journey and we were shocked at the bar prices very expensive. A can on Guinness 0.0 and a vodka and coke was £14 this is £7 normally where we live. It was obvious from sitting relaxing that the hotel seems short staffed and you have to go to reception to get someone to serve in the bar area. We had booked in for evening meal in the restaurant that is one of the highlights of our stay or should I say use to be. The restaurant is a Marco Pierre White establishment and obviously should Cary that reputation you would expect. The restaurant look cluttered with so many tables the waiters have to squeeze or take longer routes to get to you. Services is slow and whilst I expect a higher premium price for good dining experience this place falls far short. We compared it last time we stayed and whilst it was comfortable and reasonable place to stay before it’s now literally a place to avoid. Back to the restaurant…… I ordered my favourite dish “surf and Turf” which was advertised as a a tender loin fillet and garlic king prawns. This dish I received was far from advertised, the smallest steak I’ve ever seen and one prawn all for £36 and that doesn’t include chips which are another £5. I’ve eaten here before, so I can compare and last time i got a nice sized steak covered with 4 large prawns and chips were included as you would expect. I will say the steak was cooked well and tasted nice but literally took sector eat had it cut perfectly into two folk sized pieces. Having completed our meal we sat totally ignored, never once been asked during our meal if everything was ok. After 25 minutes we decided against dessert and just go and pay, we had obviously become invisible. At the till my wife made a complaint about the very poor experience and the Manages apologised and asked for our room number to compensate, that was a step forward for them but it didn’t happen and no compensation was ever received instead ewe were blanked when trying to get served at the bar which wasn’t busy and we was the first at the bar, this only served to antagonise the situation so we just went to bed for a coffee in the room. Never will be staying again and Mr Marko Pierre White, I wouldn’t put my name to the standards of this restaurant.

The toilet & taps in the room did not work properly. The rooms are not cleaned daily. In the restaurant the service was slow, the food, average at best. Totally over priced.

We stayed here for one night en route to our final destination, and really wish we could have stayed longer. Everything about the hotel was delightful, the staff, who were all friendly and welcoming, the room was spacious and clean, the grounds were beautifully kept, couldn't fault a thing. We ate in the restaurant, and prices were reasonable, food good, and service excellent. A few drinks in the lovely bar area rounded the evening off nicely. Next morning, an excellent, most welcome breakfast, that was included in the room rate, finished an truly excellent stay. Top marks.

Nicht zu empfehlen. Nur Instantkaffee zum Frühstück. Küche ist unterirdisch. Steak war trocken, well well done statt medium. Bolognese salsa aus der Konserve. Zimmer klein und laut an der Straße. Nur Ausreden an der Rezeption. Personal unmotiviert.

A little disappointing The hotel was fine - the bed was a bit too hard and also too low for our liking. The Marco’s restaurant was a complete let down - but I’ve done a separate review for that! We booked the hotel with 24 hour room service - this was not available after 8:45pm - we also booked the hotel with daily housekeeping - this did not happen - our bed was unmade and we had to phone reception for fresh towels and extra refreshments - all very disappointing given that we paid extra for the executive room and expected to get what we paid for - the room was as described however the door was very stiff and had to be forcibly pushed to open & forcibly banged to shut - the bathroom & shower were very good - the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was ok but very basic with not a huge choice - because the hotel was quiet I think the hot food was standing for too long as they didn’t think there was a need to keep replenishing it, however it was quite dried up. As they had already set & reserved tables for dinner, the breakfast tables available were a bit too close and twice I had to get up in the middle of my meal to let someone get past our table.
