Great location and host. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the duvet was like tissue paper so was the pillow,bar was nice. Had breakfast but was knocked up by owner knocking on door at 8.55am has I asked for breakfast at 9.am. Unsure if it's a home for the homeless but did look like it with the people staying there room freezing cold towel rail broken.

Filthy bathroom and generally grim and depressing. There is no excuse for filthy grimy surfaces and a shower that is almost certainly a health hazard. Even the light switch was minging. I booked it because it was cheap just for one night. I’ve learnt my lesson. It’s cheap for a reason. Avoid.

Lovely people, great place to stay
The Hotel is undergoing some hefty renovations which I'm sure will look fantastic once fully complete.
The restaurant has a new Smokehouse menu which started the day after we left, but the options looked very tempting.
You may find a hotel that has a better carpet, but you won't find a hotel with a better manager or staff. Everyone from the owner to the breakfast chef were genuinely lovely friendly people

Don’t Go There
Dirty Disgusting, Unclean, Unsafe, no hot water, shower but a trickle, carpets stained. Would not recommend to anyone.

The whole building needs a good clean and updating. The room was very scruffy furniture needs replacing and the room needs decorating. Only stayed 1 night, saying that the bed was very comfortable had a great night sleep. Didn’t have breakfast, the staff were very friendly.

Great stay. Comfy bed. Big room. There was a lovely “Severn view” didn’t have breakfast but it looked good. Landlord was a nice guy and very welcoming. Good luck for the future. Perfect location for the cricket, horse racing and the city centre.

I got there at 9.45 having already booked and paid for two nights accommodation. The place was closed, shrouded in darkness and had nothing welcoming about it at all. After knocking and eventually phoning them to get let in, I went into a poorly lit entrance way with one light in the distance showing the staircase. There was nothing about any of that which made me feel like staying there in any way. So I left them with two night’s paid accommodation and a resolution never to go anywhere near the place again.

I can't fathom why other people have written such negative comments, as we had a great stay here! An incredibly warm welcome and really friendly staff. The owner/manager is a truly lovely guy. The bed was comfortable and the room was perfectly clean. Yes, the floors creak a bit, but it's an old building, that does tend to happen. This hotel is walking distance to the city centre and racecourse, and under £100 a night at a weekend. You can't really ask for more! I would take other reviews with a pinch of salt as I would absolutely stay here again.
