The hotel is situated in probably the best location in the area with magnificent views and fantastic staff. The food was brilliant and the room was spacious and spotlessly clean. A little on the expensive side but worth every penny. Will definitely be going back.

Lovely location and worth paying extra for a balcony room. The food was lovely breakfast was well stocked and dinner was superb in the rocks restaurant. The balcony floor needs tiling - the flooring on ours was what can describe as like the felt that you put on top of sheds and even then it was worn away in places ! The pool is so tired and dirty it needs a deep clean - steps leading to the whirl pool were black and the tiles around the outside are very mouldy - someone needs to swim in the pool and see what the guests can see ! Apart from the pool everywhere else was very clean.

This is our 2nd visit to this wonderful hotel and we’re already looking forward to booking our 3rd! Easy parking,great reception and a relaxing glass of chilled rose’ with the beautiful sea view from the terrace. Then up to our favourite room the Lundy suite and onto our balcony to read a book before getting ready for a drink in the bar before a delicious meal in the restaurant with views out to sea. Great nights sleep and a wake-up swim at 8.30 in the outside pool before a yummy breakfast- on repeat for 3 days!! Special thanks to Lisa who is just fabulous and to all the staff who were so welcoming and professional.

What a wonderful place. Perched above a sandy beach with the most spectacular views of the sea and coast. The hotel is refined and modern without struggling to be super chic. Everywhere is very clean, including the outdoor heated pool. We spent much time on the loungers on the lawn absorbing the view. There was only one room left when we booked. Not sea facing but it was spacious and comfortable. We slept very well. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Staff are all courteous and efficient. They were fully booked for dinner so we took a stroll to the Barricane beach cafe. We'll be back

Booked for Sunday lunch. The service was slow despite it not being at all busy. The potato’s and parsnips were very dry and had obviously been sitting around for some time and the gravy, well if you can call it that was absolutely tasteless. Very overpriced for what we had. No atmosphere at all.

Best view in England but strawberry cake inedible. Ordered one slice to share and got charged for two. Waiter would not refund even though we asked immediately we realised the mistake and before we had sat down. He couldn’t work the til?? Completely horrid sugary cake

We were recommended this hotel by our lovely friend Carole Richards who has been going there every year for more than 20 years. And boy we weren't disappointed, it's had a warm family vibe, food that wouldn't be out of place in posh overpriced restaurants of London. Our terraced room No.40 was beautiful and comfortable and had the most wonderful views over the bay that just made you go WOW. Special thanks must go to the person who prepared my English breakfast, it was formed in a tower, a work of art and it was by far the best breakfast I've had in my 66 years, perfectly cooked and great ingredients, I would recommend that the hotel make this the standard practice. The dining room just might have the best views of any in the land and is totally transfixing. I would recommend booking directly with the hotel as we struggled with a third party booking site who didn't seem to have the room availability up to date. A quick mention about the location of the hotel, The surrounding area is stunning, full of tiny Hamlet's and warm welcomes, a bygone era that's still alive and kicking and thriving. An area that calms the soul and rejoices in nature. If you are thinking of visiting Devon this is where you should go and this is the hotel you should stay in, you won't be disappointed and the memories will make you smile. Many thanks again. We booked in after looking at the photos on their website. Unfortunately we booked a room and when we got to it the room had no windows. Very claustrophobic. There was no mention of this on the advertising of the room. Very disappointing. The service from the receptionist was lovely. We did not eat at the restaurant as it was booked out. We were recommended another place to eat which was lovely.

We were recommended to The Watersmeet by a friend withba house in town. We drove the 4.5 hrs down from surrey to a 50th. Our seaview deluxe room cost £373 per night bed & breakfast. For this hefty price tag we were expecting something special. Arriving at 8.30pm there was nobody on front desk so had to check in at the bar. First impressions bar area looked nicely furnished and view over the beach was good. Our room was small, very little room round the bed, old furniture, dated bathroom and no frills. Instant coffee sachets and uht milk, something you would expect in a premier inn. Absolutely not worth the london prices we had paid. Breakfast was good quality but lacked any fresh coffee, we were told the machine is t used for breakfast and given a cafetiere however there was no sign of freshly ground coffee in it just Instant so that left a sour taste in our mouth! Next the spa, small, old and unappealing. Lastly we returned to our hotel at 1am after an evening out to find the hotel locked we were left outside ringing a doorbell for 15minutes. Lack of communication from our check in. A stressful situation. I have personally written to the hotel to express my disappointment and 3 days on no reply. How this hotel has been awarded any awards is beyond me.
