The Petwood manages to combine elegance with a welcoming charm. We are regular guests here as we love it so much. The bedrooms are spacious as is the bar area with open fires and a smart dining room where you are served excellent food accompanied by classic tunes played on the nearby grand piano. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is also good. The gardens are beautifully landscaped, akin to gardens in a stately home. The historic links with Guy Gibson and the Dambuster attacks are proudly preserved.

We spent our 25th silver wedding anniversary at The Petwood hotel. What a fantastic place for making wonderful memories. The hotel steeped in history, our bedroom overlooking the beautiful gardens, the food was all excellent too. Every member of staff was extremely helpful in making our stay a wonderful experience. The opportunity to take our pet was an added bonus to engage in walks around the grounds. Overall thank you Petwood hotel for making our silver wedding anniversary a very special one. We will return again for another visit soon.

There is a lot of history here. RAF 617 Sqn Officers mess and prior to that it was a hospital in WW1. There is an interesting “ snug “, full of memorabilia. Some of it significant of the Historic Story if you look. The hotel is cozy and well presented with a choice of meals from restraint to bar and several public Rooms and a snooker room too. Staff are very kind and helpful throughout the stay. Rightly recommended and worth the time looking around the gardens and buildings. Need by there is a wealth of other historic locations a short search will find them online and all in very easy driving range.

We spent two nights here as a special treat from my husband. The hotel impressed me because it was unspoiled by time. Original Oak Paneling, characterful rooms but with modern facilities, well kept gardens. The overall experience was a little like stepping back in time. Wartime memorabilia abounds, given the hotel's connection with the RAF and the Dambusters. We loved it.

This is a beautiful building, we booked 2 garden view rooms. 1 for my husband and I and 1 for my son and his partner as a treat for his birthday. The hotel knew this so on arrival we found he had been upgraded to a four poster room. Room was fantastic and ours was very nice as well big and comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was very good. And the waiting staff even better. Sadly the breakfast less so ,which is why it has lost a star. The continental breakfast, which was cereals, and croissants and strange tasting orange juice and not much else was set up in the small corridor outside the dining room where everyone is trying to pass and was very cramped. The hot part was in the rather fabulous officers mess next to the dining room. Unfortunately when we went for food there were no fried eggs no scrambled eggs no beans and one sausage and one sad looking rasher of bacon. Disappointing as breakfast was 15 pound a head. Overall we loved our stay, grounds are nice to walk round and the history of the place is fascinating with lots of bits to look at. We would go again but would probably skip breakfast.

Second stay at this outstanding hotel. It is just beautiful. We got the chance to upgrade so we did and stayed in the Weigall Suite, wow!!! Absolutely beautiful, on two storeys, with bedroom upstairs, stunning views over the gardens. Big lounge area downstairs, with separate kitchen, spacious bathroom and separate toilet. For us, this suite was beautiful. I didn't want to leave.
