A welcoming, convenient and friendly place to stay whilst visiting relatives. A comfortable bedroom, though with some repair needed to amenities in the bathroom, and now a “room only” offering with no proper breakfast included (though “confectionary” bag offered by email and info about local cafes in room) attracts a three star rating in our view and should be priced slightly lower.

The Fisherman’s Haunt has set the bar as far as Roasts are concerned. I have just been served what I can only describe as one of the finest roasts I have ever had the pleasure of eating. I opted for the Roast Beef. Cooked Medium Rare, but if this isn’t to your liking, you can ask for a more well done portion. The red cabbage, cheesey leeks and parsnips were gorgeous, but the real stars of the show are the Roast Potatoes, Yorkshire Pud and a Gravy that even the most staunch Yorkshireman would have trouble complaining about (on his chips!) Maybe during this recent heatwave, a roast hasn’t been on the top of your list, but my goodness, you won’t be disappointed. Don’t wait for the winter, try it now so know what to expect and have something to look forward to when the nights draw in and it’s too wet and cold to go out on a Sunday…..

We booked for 4 nights having looked at the website and pictures, which we feel were misrepresented......our room was tired and dated, with a dripping tap that from now reading previous reviews has been notified to them before. There was an odd situation on check in and we think we were switched rooms as we had asked for their most modern room and had confirmation from them of that, but it wasnt what we got. We ate in the restaurant on our first evening however the menu was very basic and the food bland and tasteless. Disappointing as it meant taxi rides into Christchurch on our other evenings. The waiter was a lovely friendly guy and the cleaner did a great job, with clean towels every day. Upshot was we packed up early and moved hotels. For the price we definitely don't think it was worth it, especially with no breakfast included. In our opinion this is not a 4* hotel, its a pub with tired rooms. Think carefully!

Fabulous place to stay, the staff are fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Stayed for two nights and on arrival found out it was the monthly quiz night so extra bonus love a quiz! The rooms were lovely, proper shower too, cosy and welcoming. As it’s on the outskirts it’s really quiet so no noise to disturb you, beds are large and comfortable the mattress was slightly softer than we’re used to but didn’t stop us from having a good nights sleep. Large car park too so no problems there, just have to be careful with the turning as you can miss it but if you’re using a sat nav as long as you’ve put the pub postcode in you should see it. The only downside is that they no longer offer breakfast so you will need to go out for that but the staff gave us plenty of recommendations. If we come back to Dorset then we will definitely stay here again.

ok business trip, 1 night stay. The hotel is not operating to its full summer potential. The kitchen shuts at 20:00, meaning, not good for me getting there at 19:40. Staff were fantastic but again no breakfast offered, i am guessing it must be because its not summer. Probably if i were staying in the area again i would choose a hotel with more facilities
