SpringHill Suites Hartford Airport/Windsor Locks

I love the service here. Richard at the front desk is just absolutely amazing. He is courteous and professional. I am a regular customer and he always goes above and beyond. As far as the facilities themselves.... no complaints. It's typically good and clean. The location is very convenient and close to the airport offering a free shuttle to BDL Airport around the clock.

How close this hotel is to the airport is great for fights. If you are bothered by the noise of planes probably not your place. For us it was fine. What are the problems, it is currently under renovation, our room was renovated...poorly. We will start with the door to the room. when leaving the room , th elock pops out so you have to keep unlocking to get it to close, then when you do verify it is shut correctly as then it may not be locked at all. Then the bathrooms, it is divided into 2, one room with toilet, small sick and most of the towel racks, the secon has the shower, larger sink and one towel hook. The doors are sliding frosted glass, so, if you are sharing a room with someone who is not your partner....well no privacy. Second the toilet is from a kindergarten class, it is so low, one might as well sit on the floor. As mentioned the towel racks are in the bathroom without the shower, so only 1 person can hang their towels in that room, the other person has to hang in the toilet bathroom, which by the way, was not installed properly so kept falling on floor. The shower, very powerful and is delightful, until you open the door and realize that the shower door was not properly sealed, so you are now stepping into your own private pool in your bathroom. Might as well talk about the actual hotel pool now, it is not that warm, a small rectangle and only 3 feet deep all the way around. New microwave as part of renovation....of course you will need to guess time, power etc, as it is rows of silver buttons, nothing is marked, you will guess at what the buttons do. Mini fridge in room, that truthfully makes more noise than the planes at times. Speaking of noise, the HVAC systme was not replaced so if in need of the A/C, it is still one of the old units that you punch buttons and it makes more noise than the fridge and planes. Breakfast in the morning, that was different..they use all frozen items, such as mini quiche, and Jimmy Dean sausage biscuits. Once they microwave them, they are placed out in heating dishes...still in the wrappers. They served this every day, finally on our 4th day it was changed to scrambled eggs ( not in a wrapper) and sausage. That breakfast was for one of us. the second person is gluten free. I inquired what they had and they keep Katz brand frozen muffins in the kitchen. My first day of asking, the very nice man, placed the english muffin in the kitchen microwave and handed it to me on a plate to cut and toast. the next day, the woman handed me a very hard frozen muffin. When I asked her to microwave she told me that was what the toaster was for . Well, after I placed it through the toaster 4 times, I was able to cut through the frozen and place it through 2 more times. What I ended up with was cold in the middle and burnt on the edges. I should have gone back to my rooom and placed in the unmarked microwave to defrost then brought back down to the toaster. She did come back out to see if all was good, whe
