The Black Hole

What a fabulous B&B. Quirky and unusual with compact but spotlessly clean and tidy rooms. Slept well, bed was super comfy with great quality bedding. Staff were lovely friendly and contactable if needed. Breakfast was great , lots of choice and catered for gluten free. Great location close to affordable multi story carpark. Beautiful walk into town with river walk. Will definitely return!

We only stayed 1 night but The Black Hole would encourage us to return for a future visit. The staff are exceptional! They went out of their way to be welcoming, answering all my silly questions, and very accommodating. The atmosphere is both relaxed and enjoyable. It is a quirky place to stay and even though we had 2 large bags (this was the last leg of our summer holiday) we didn't mind climbing the stairs to our unusual room. One of my best nights sleeps too!

Stayed for two nights in this very unique hotel. Check in is from 15.00 with no reception desk at other times. Very informative member of staff greeted us on arrival. The rooms are lovely (minor thing one of our rooms had very little storage space). The theming is great - old prison doors on the rooms and lots of pictures of past felons etc. Spiral staircase to each floor and a roof terrace than can be accessed 24 hours. Great place to read my book at 6.30am. Free use of the tea/coffee machine at any time of the day (excellent coffee from it). Breakfast was freshly cooked to order with a choice of how your eggs were cooked. Toast, croissants, fruit, yoghurts, cereals etc were also on offer. Great staff at reception and breakfast. A short walk to the High Street and the river.

.. as the decor isn't all that black ! Yes the prison theme is present but not overwhelming. Our room was Cell 2 and had everything we wanted. Though the room was double glazed there was some minor traffic noise. Excellent English breakfast !!! Excellent ingredients cooked very well indeed.

Quirky, comfy with excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Great location to explore Winchester. Pub next door The Black Boy is a must to visit. Emma was very knowledgeable and helpful. The staff couldn’t do more for us. Tea and coffee available 24/7 at no extra cost and great choice at breakfast. They recommended us some great places to eat and drink too. We will definitely be back. Thank you

A really great and unique experience that was different to the usual B&B offering. Room, breakfast and people were all excellent and would recommend a visit if in Winchester. Thanks! Neal
