Holbrook Manor & Spa

Placed in a brick single story bedroom come lounge . Very grubby carpet. Vertical blinds hanging from runners. Area generally in poor repair. Hot and and cold tap in bathroom constantly running. Garden view. (REALLY) £83 No breakfast. Reception no real interest and the garden cafe closed at 1600, despite being told it would offer some simple foodstuffs and drinks. Forget it. Spa users some were very rude and clearly guest staying over were well done the list..

Booked a spa afternoon with friends, facilities are very tired, and no indoor seating for spa guests around the pool area. Luckily it was a nice day so we could be outside, however the lawn hadn’t been mowed for weeks, dead plants in pots on the patio and weeds growing all over the patio. Worst part was the music! For a spa afternoon I expected to be able to relax without blaring pop, rock and rap music, some with profound swearing. Not somewhere I will be returning to.

Great Facility We had an over night stop on way to Devon. Were able to fit time in pool, steam room and sauna. These facilities were excellent however the general decor was tired and in need of maintenance. E.g. door frames near pool were rotten at bottom.

I booked the afternoon retreat as a present for my friends birthday. After reading the reviews the morning of going, I was hesitant. However, the experience was amazing. The facilities were clean, the staff were super friendly and helpful, and the treatments we got were amazing. Nicky and Cassie were so great at what they do and made the experience pleasurable and worthwhile. The afternoon was also delightful, Jo (I think that’s her name), was very attentive and bubbly. This made the experience even better! We felt no pressure to leave when our day was finished, they were very accommodating and made us feel welcome till the very end. I also booked this experience for my mother in law which she attended today with a friend - she said it was fabulous. Thank you again!

I stayed for two nights to break up a road trip to a wellbeing retreat near the coast. Appreciated the help from friendly reception staff - Catriona and Zia - in switching my room and making bookings. Enjoyed delicious gluten free lunch options from Charlotte in the well furnished café (loved the repurposed antique coffee tables). Relaxing pedicure and massage with Cassie in the beautifully decorated Hayloft spa. One thing though that detracts from the classic Georgian country manor house hotel interior decor and atmosphere is the unfortunate addition of huge contrasting heavy Moorish style sofas and armchairs that look very odd and out of place. These heavy sofas (with wooden carving sticking above the end of several beds) are not shown in the hotel website photos, so must be recent. Also much of the existing period furniture looks in need of reupholstering and wood revarnishing and glass tops to protect the wood. Room kettles need descaling please. Also recommend having a door between the bedroom and lounge in Room 12. Bathrooms are very well equipped. Stunning views and relaxing gardens. I’ll be back, hopefully for my favourite rooms!

We have just had our wedding at Holbrook and we had the most amazing time. The wedding coordinator, Hannah was absolutely fantastic from start to finish and we could not be more grateful for her professionalism, organisation and general all round fantastic service. The bar staff on the night were brilliant. A special mention to Charlotte who was so kind, hilarious and loved by all the guests. We stayed 2 nights at the hotel as did most of our guests and the rooms were spacious, clean and inviting. The breakfast both mornings were fantastic also. Thank you again!!
