The Stanneylands

Clean, quiet environment, nice restaurant. Helpful front desk. Reasonable rate. Just only very few wall power socket in the room is bit not convenient.

This hotel was very good for the price but could do with upgrading a little. It suited us because the room was clean, had a large bed with a good shower. We asked for a quiet room and slept well. The location is pretty but you need a car to stay here.

The welcome we received on arrival was very good and the restaurant team were supportive of our dietary requirements. Overall a very pleasant stay which was ideal for our trip.

We stayed at The Stanneylands for two nights in July while attending a wedding at Styal Lodge. To begin with, I must say the staff were exceptional — from check-in to general service, they were attentive, friendly, and incredibly helpful. They remembered our names and even knew which wedding we were attending, which added a very personal touch to our experience. Now for the room: we had booked a suite, which was approximately double the price of a standard room. We were allocated Room 112, and unfortunately, this is where things began to fall short. The room itself felt quite dated and had a strange odour, almost like it had previously been a smoking room. While the bathroom was nicely fitted, with dual sinks and a good-sized bathtub, we were surprised to find cobwebs both in the bathroom and near the bedside area. The suite is located on the basement level, overlooking the back car park and service area used by kitchen staff. After a long flight, we were hoping for a restful sleep, but were instead woken early by delivery vans and loud conversations just outside our window. When we raised this with the front desk, they kindly offered to move us to a junior suite, but we declined as my wife had already unpacked and set up her vanity area. To be clear, the staff remained outstanding throughout our stay, but it’s genuinely puzzling why the hotel’s most expensive rooms would be positioned in such an inconvenient and noisy location. If you’re considering a stay here, I’d highly recommend viewing the room first — particularly if booking a suite. On a more positive note, we enjoyed a lovely dinner at the hotel restaurant on our first evening, and the breakfast the next morning was satisfactory as well. In summary: wonderful staff, decent amenities, but the suite we stayed in did not live up to expectations — especially at the premium price point.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with a recent charge during my stay. When guests arrive early and are informed their rooms are ready and provided with a key, staff should clearly explain that there is a £25.00 charge for carrying luggage to the room. I found this charge to be excessive and unexpected. Due to this experience, I will be choosing Premier Inn for my next visit to the area
