This place is a gem. Lovely country house atmosphere with friendly staff who go the extra mile. The room i had was hugh with a bath and large walk in shower. The bed was one of the most comfortable away from home i have slept in and the pillows and bedding were great quality. The evening meal was beautifully cooked and the breakfast choice and quality was excellent.

I booked two suites - one to be occupied by my husband and myself (for 2 nights). The other by our son, daughter in law and 7 week old baby (1 night) as they were then moving to Nunsmere Hall where they were wedding guests. Suite 4 was occupied by my son and his family. It looked newly refurbished with a nice bathroom and was a vast contrast to Suite 2 which my husband and I occupied which is in need of some TLC. The sofa and arm chair were shabby chic and in need of being re-stuffed and covered. The bathroom extremely basic to say the least. The liquid soap dispenser by the hand basin was empty and the bottle and fixture disgustingly dirty. No shelf by the overhead shower in the bath to put shower gel etc you had to manoeuvre it to stay on extremely narrow rim. Dead flys on the window sills in the bedroom, the free standing mirror on the dressing table had not seen a duster in months. Brown water coming out of the bath taps which we had to run for 10 minutes until it ran clear. Apparently the water is filtered from a well? The bedroom windows needed a good clean on the outside to remove all the cob webs. I informed the receptionist who took photos and half heartily apologised. We dined in the restaurant. Food was nice and by way of compensation the drinks we ordered (1 glass of wine, 1 Campari and tonic, 1 coke and a small beer) were on the house! The following day when we returned to our room the tray with used coffee cups, water glasses and empty bottles of water had not been removed and the bins in the bathroom and bedroom not emptied but the soap dispenser had been filled with cheap hand soap and definitely not the brand that is shown on the bottle label. Our son’s friends knowing we were staying there also booked two rooms. The staff were nice but the hotel is definitely not worthy of 4 stars in my opinion!

A wonderful setting in the countryside with stunning views. The owners have done well to maintain the ambience of a rich man's residence. Great food with attentive staff. Be aware there is no lift and only one exit route from the guest rooms.

The hotel is set in lovely grounds and from the outside it looks lovely unfortunately once inside it is obvious that the building needs some serious attention the halls and our room were very dated. Our room did not have any hot water so cold showers where the only option Good points the food in the restaurant was very good as was the service at dinner and at breakfast. The personal touch from the owner sorting out a room we could use to shower was nice, his offer to move rooms was rejected as it was 8 at night and we were settled. Although dated the hotel was clean and comfortable. A 10% reduction on price of meal and drinks because of the issues was gratefully accepted I would use again but I cannot give more than average

Last minute booking as I was traveling north to the office and my partner was meeting family. We arrived and the friendly greeting was second to none, we'd been upgraded to Room 2 and our suite didn't disappoint. We'd brought the dog so had to have dinner in the bar, where we met two locals. Most enjoyable meal and lovely atmosphere. We slept well considering our room was at the front of the property. In the morning after walking the dog we went into a full English breakfast and met the lovely lady who took our original booking. My partner stayed after I left for work to await the arrival of her parents to join her for coffee.

Don't. Stayed last week, paid for dinner, bed and breakfast. Checked out settled our bill, and left. Checked my bank statement , charged £102 for something by this place after the fact. Phoned to query it and was told, "What was it for" followed by "What do you want me to do about it". Was in the shower and got a nock on the door to be told stop using it the ceiling is leaking. Makes Fawlty towers look like the Ritz, if stating in Chester go to the Grosvenor Pulford instead.

I fell in love with Willington on the drive. What an absolute hidden gem of a hotel. The staff are an absolute delight, the views are simply stunning, the food delicious and the rooms luxurious. The sound of birdsong is incredible! Hares were hopping around in the early morning and there are hidden benches where you can sit and read...gorgeous. Sadly only a two night-stay but it's a very affordable escape from the city so I will definitely be back..I think my blood pressure dropped several points within seconds of arrival! Personal service, and so many sweet touches throughout the hotel show the care the owners (who I was lucky enough to meet: a charming elderly couple who obviously have an absolute passion for what they do) take in everything. Lots of locals in...always a good sign! I would like more than two coffee sachets in the room but as soon as I mentioned this I was handed extra...seemed like nothing was too much trouble. Photos of the gorgeous garden...full of flowers!
