A black shop, no free parking, but it advertises that there is free parking, no breakfast, no water to drink, itchy body after sleep, may be bitten by insects, the bathroom is small and far away, the lights are dark, I dare not go to the bathroom at night, the room is very small , It’s hard to turn around, there are no toiletries, we only live in 30 rooms, and we have been terrified! There is a so-called history of more than 100 years, and the facilities are old and dilapidated!

The room is small and old. Service is limited. In the center of town.

The location is great. The room very clean. Just the bed needs upgrade, a bit uncomfortable.

Fair hotel, in a great location. Very beautiful historical building, but also very old building with rickety floors. However, it’s well kept, clean and staff was very pleasant. The interior of the building is very interestingly decorated, almost like a period museum. I’d stay again. 👌

Loved staying at this charming historic old hotel located in the heart of downtown Williams! I stayed in the back carriage which was a very large room but cozy! The library room in the main hotel is very a relaxing place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning!

We stayed at the Historic Grand Canyon Hotel for one night with high hopes, as it seemed like the perfect base for our visit to Williams, AZ, and our hike at the Grand Canyon. While there were certainly some charming aspects to our stay, there were a few things that ultimately left us underwhelmed. Let's start with the positives: the hotel's public areas exude a delightful vintage charm that shows the love and effort the owners are putting into the place. Walking through the halls felt like stepping back in time in the best way. It's clear that with a bit more polish, this place has the potential to be a real gem. Unfortunately, the guest experience just wasn't quite there yet. The bed in our room was just impossibly soft, which was a big letdown considering we needed a good night's sleep before our big hike at the Grand Canyon. Instead of waking up refreshed and ready to take on the trail, both of us ended up with sore backs and necks. If we had known about the bed situation beforehand, we probably would have chosen a different place to stay. Another sticking point was our encounter with the front desk staff. We'd inquired about early check-in when we booked, and were told about a $25 fee, but without a guarantee of room availability. We opted to wait, and arrived just a few minutes before the official 4 pm check-in time. The clerk commented on our timely arrival and waived the fee as a favor, but the remark felt off-putting, especially since by the time we finished getting checked in, it was already past 4 pm. The window A/C unit, while a little loud, was a mixed blessing. It helped drown out the street noise, but its placement meant we couldn't fully close the curtains, leaving some light to seep into the room all night. In summary, while there are some endearing qualities about the Historic Grand Canyon Hotel, our stay wasn't as comfortable as we had hoped. The bed situation, the awkward early check-in process, and the less-than-perfect darkening of the room all added up to a less than ideal experience. As much as I wanted to love it, I think we’ll be looking for alternative accommodations the next time we’re in Williams.

This is an exceptional hotel, which is one of the most delightful and characterful places I have ever stayed. We stayed in room 7, which was absolutely perfect for our family of 5; a king size master bedroom and a set of double bunk beds. There was also a living area and a small hallway in the room which contained a microwave, fridge-freezer and coffee maker. A small selection of pastries, yogurt, fruit and hot drinks were provided at breakfast which we appreciated. The hotel has been very tastefully renovated and is much bigger than it looks from the outside. Williams itself is such a lovely place on route 66 and it is very well preserved as such. There are lots of gift shops and restaurants and it has such a lovely welcoming atmosphere. We only stayed for one night on our way through to the Grand Canyon and were sad to have not had longer there (and at the hotel) I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat.

This review is relatively objective - I stayed solo for two nights in July during a 47 night/25 property USA road trip. Easily found in the one way system in town - parking lot behind the property. Welcoming and friendly staff/owner. This historic hotel has been sympathetically renovated without losing all of its character. It’s still a little ‘fresh’, but no doubt will ‘wear in’ over time. It’s great that the old floorboards have been retained. No elevator for those with mobility issues - but the lovely wide old school staircase adds to the character of the place. I had one of the smaller rooms with adequate natural light from the no view atrium. For those needing to be able to look out over the street etc be sure to book the right room. Comfortable, clean and large enough for a couple of nights solo - wouldn’t have been so good for a couple. Good quality bed linen and towels. Plenty of eating options/bars/shops just outside the lobby/lounge on Route 66. Breakfast is advertised as ‘light’ and that it certainly is - minimalist would perhaps be a better phrase. Pleased I visited this piece of history.
