Beautiful setting, food excellent , staff and service excellent. Always something wrong , parking a nightmare, at 13.30 no spaces available , I had to squeeze on a corner and scratched my car on a shrub , disabled bays not available and a very stony car park . Access and parking a problem for disabled. Parking for ordinary customers a problem that doesn't seem to be solutionable due to space , very popular, abundance of cars a direct result . Was told an absolutely ample parking area , wrong sorry to say Wine , £10.50 for 125cl , equates to £63 a bottle for a wine that retails at £7.50 a bottle , if you want one glass , don't , offered still water , got charged for a bottle , looked very much like it and tasted just like tap water , bit of a rip off as it's normally free , especially with the cost of the food . £1.50 charge, but offered on arrival , not ordered , watch out for the incidental charges . Menu superb , add on vegetables a bit OTT in cost . But the experience was superb, don't detract what I say , well worth the visit Chairs uncomfortable , sag in the middle , so you're riding the infrastructure of the wooden struts . But you're restricted to two hours to vacate the table , so tolerance was acceptable. The food came out freshly cooked , it was presented in a fine manner , but the service therefore is slow , and the two hours allocated means you have limited time to ponder and digest , that's a shame , don't like being restricted, but I presume they have to clear up for the evening session . Bit of a negative .

Excellent food within a beautiful setting, but service let it down. Staff are clearly very inexperienced, and so this really impacts the experience. We ordered starters, mains and desserts and could not fault the food. However, not all of it arrived, and so after being ignored by two separate waiters I discreetly went to the bar area to enquire where our side dishes were. The lady was polite, but would not let me finish before saying she would get them to me immediately and hurrying off. Twenty minutes later, no side dish for one of our guests who waited a considerable amount of time before relenting and starting her main. The side dish arrived just as she was on her final mouthful. I quickly sent the side dish away to be scowled at without any words being spoken from a waitress. No apologies and then charged for the offending £7 side dish. I couldn’t be bothered to argue as it had already upset the table and it was a special occasion. I have no issues with prices here as such a beautiful location and quality ingredients are expensive. However, service makes the experience as much as the food! If they do not get this right, this beautiful restaurant and hotel will not survive. Reading other reviews, we are clearly not alone regarding poor service. Such a shame as the menu and setting is clever and well thought out.

The house is genuinely old - early 1600’s - and our room was quite historic, with some of the wall panelling apparently from Windsor Castle, a gift from Charles I who stayed here. The room was double-aspect with lovely views of the gardens through the stone mullioned windows. The bed was large and supremely comfortable. The bathroom was very large and excellent.

A lovely dinner. Food was excellent quality, although the cod loin was a touch overcooked. Lamb was excellent. Side orders were expensive but substantial. All I would say is that if you ask when taking the booking if it is a special occasion (which it was for us given that it was our Silver Wedding anniversary), then you might as well say Happy Anniversary at some stage. A little extra freebie would make all the difference as well. Otherwise there's no point in asking at the booking stage.

My daughter got married in Maidstoneladt weekend and we chose Boys-Hall for all our families lodgings. Everything was first class. The rooms were beautiful and unique. Most importantly comfortable. We had special needs for the wedding, we had hair stylist, photography etc coming on wedding morning. They accommodated our every need. The food in the restaurant was fantastic and the staff was attentive and accomodating. I can’t say enough about the service we recieved and genuine care for our family. Amazing place to stay. Thank you Boys Hall you helped make my daughters dreams come true Angela Wright

We have wanted to stay for a while so my wife’s birthday seemed the ideal excuse. Everything about the stay from the welcome to the food and drinks was faultless. The tea and cake on arrival was a nice touch. The room and shower were great. We enjoyed the window seat with a view over the courtyard. The bed was also very comfortable if a little high off the ground. We also had a lovely meal. I had lamb with a mussels starter. My wife had steak. Both really delicious. The Gusbourne blanc de blanc was a treat. As were the pre-dinner drinks. All in all a great stay. Heartily recommended. Breakfast was also great.

Our favourite hotel! Our second stay and we will be back. The hotel is lovely as are the rooms. The food was fantastic, as was the service. And the best cocktails! We stayed in Romney room it was very spacious and comfortable bed. Last time we stayed in Banks room lovely too. My husband said his full English breakfast was ‘spectacular!’

We recently stayed as part of my wives 40th birthday celebrations. I must say that the hotel, grounds, rooms and decor are truly stunning and it is certainly a luxurious stay that makes you feel like you are staying somewhere special. The room (Banks) itself was of a top standard with roll top bath, large comfortable bed, separate bathroom and a real tranquil space with no TV meant that you just could switch off. Now the niggly part and it is just an productive criticism. I feel that there could have been some small touches that really set the stay apart from other boutique hotels that we have stayed in considering the price that was paid for a room only. As mentioned this stay was part of my wives 40th celebration and I informed the hotel in advance but there was no acknowledgement of this even in the hand written card left in our room, where as places we stay previously have done plates of chocolates with scribing or a bottle of sparkles. The other niggle was it felt like there was a need for every penny to be made. We decided to have breakfast in the restaurant in the morning and went for both cooked breakfasts which was very tasty and made with local produce to a high standard. It come with 2 poached eggs but only 1 slice of toast so my wife asked if she could get another slice of toast which arrived very quickly, no suprise really for when we got our bill at check out there was an additional charge of £4 odd for a lice of toast!!! This was very over priced slice of toast and after spending so much with the hotel, I couldnt see why this couldnt have just been given from the continental table. It is small touches like this can be improved. Overall a truly luxurious hotel but just felt it could give more.
