Hotels near Curacao Underwater Marine Park, Willemstad

There were 4 of us that traveled to the Acoya Resort in Curacao in April 2024 using Air Canada Vacations. Our pregnant daughter-in-law was one of the 4. We booked a 2 bedroom apartment and a rental car at Acoya. The flight out of Toronto was 2 hours late in leaving which impacted our vacation due to late time of arrival. For 2 months prior to the trip, I was speaking with the car rental company to select the vehicle. Be careful with this as the most common rental car is very small and only suitable for 2 people. When we arrived, the airport bus transfer company made us wait in the sun for no good reason while they loaded people going to other resorts. This is usually a first come first seated service. The bus was comfortable with good air conditioning and charging ports on the seat. Check in was quick and easy. The girls at the front desk were helpful and professional. We got to our room which was a bit dated. The kitchen, dining room and living area were all good sizes. Our bedroom was good size but the room for our son and his wife was miniature. So small that they could not open the drawers in their wardrobe because it was right up to the foot of the bed. They could not unpack and had to live out of their suitcase for the week. The biggest problem we had was with the car rental company. After months of exchanging messages and pictures, agreeing on the car and the rates, there was no car available for us when we got there. He said he forgot about us and sent the car out. WHaaattttt!!! After all that, no car. He tried to put the 4 of us and all our gear into a tiny car smaller than a smart car. We argued for over an hour when he finally agreed to put us into an SUV. OMG. This vehicle was filthy, had rotting food in it, garbage inside, half inch of dust and grime, no gas and so dirty outside that you could not see out. We had to clean it ourselves and throw out garbage. Running on fumes, we went to Mambo beach for dinner. This was a pleasant experience. It was already dark so we could not see the beach. We ate at one of the restaurants, tried local dishes and loved them. Food and service were great. The next morning, we crossed our fingers, loaded up our beach gear and headed out. First stop, fill up the gas tank from empty. 10 Minutes into the drive someone driving next to us flagged us over to let us know that the front driver’s side tire was flat. We pulled over in a gas station, by now it was over 30 degrees C. We had on beach wear and were not prepared for what was to come. Flat tire and a filthy car, I called the company. Their response was swift. They sent a repair company to change the tire. Well, well, well. The small spare tire turned out to be rotten when they put it on. It could not be inflated. So now no front tire and no spare. Wait…. It gets worse. So the owner of the rental company comes to meet us. The customer service was amazing! The food was bountiful and incredibly satisfying because it overexceeded our expectations. The Rif Mangrove was very very clean. I enjoyed the activities especially beach volleyball and the local bands. Overall it was an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend anyone to visit in the future. I would like to thank Ray for allowing us to have a wonderful lunch at the Harbor restaurant on our last day. If wasn’t for him we would not have gotten to experience the amazing food and his socialization skills are exceptional. I highly recommend looking for him at the resort to make your experience an extra amazing one!

The property itself is nice but there are a few problems but that's not what I want to leave this review for. This review& the low star rating is for an experience that I had with one of the workers,her name begins with K. SHE WORKS PREDOMINANTLY WITH THE PILOTS AND Attendants. She is fair complexioned,on the chubby side& wears glasses. The young lady was helping me when one of the pilots walked up she told me that I will be with you in a second and began to assist him & I said well how can you help him when you're not finished helping me. She responded that she needed to assist him. I posed the question again. This young lady looked me square in my face & instead of explaining to me her sole responsibility, with an attitude of annoyance told me that this white pilot is ”her priority” & continued assisting him. I was offended. to make a long story short.I told her about herself , her lack of professionalism and how EVERY GUEST IS A PRIORITY. I also spoke to the manager(Kim who was absolutely kind, friendly, welcoming, attentive and professional) who the day we were leaving seemed to be chummy ,chummy w/the young lady so I don't think any type of action was taken but I could be wrong. Anyhoo, whoever is reading this you need to RETRAIN some of the people that work there. Also, there needs to be training for all of the housekeepers that clean the rooms. There needs to be a uniform way of doing things. I'm of the persuasion that if I am spending my money I expect a certain level of service which was lacking. Papayago, please take a page out of the book of the Marriott in Grand Cayman. Just came back & service/ALL STAFF was ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 stars!

My BFF and I have been to Curaçao 4 times now. The last three times we rent an apartment at Blue Bay. It’s gated, safe, beautiful, and all the staff we’ve ever come into contact with are friendly and helpful. This past vacation- just last week- my flight was cancelled and in order to get home I had to extend my stay by 2 nights. I quickly googled for hotels in Curaçao and almost at the top of the listings was Bayside Boutique Hotel. I booked immediately even though I’d never been there but as it was on the same property with which I was already familiar I was very confident I’d be ok. I was now going to be staying alone- and even though I find Curaçao super safe (I’ve lived on islands with serious crime rates) you know, single woman, alone. I wanted to not worry. And did I not worry. Staff was helpful and accommodating. From helping reprogram my TV (because I’m a spaz and of course hit countless wrong buttons) to arranging for taxis - to yet another Covid test as well as the airport. (and on that note, they arranged for the driver to not only wait while I got my test but he let me run into the grocery store and did not charge me extra. Taxis are not cheap but the driver was great and I tipped him accordingly for his kindness)The room was spotless, beautifully appointed, lovely amenities, comfortable bed. The property is gorgeous and really, I can’t say enough good things about this place. The only thing I will give fair warning in is - old building=lots of stairs. So when your luggage is like mine and is twice my weight just be prepared!!! Or ask for help. Which they will!!! I absolutely loved it here and will look into booking this for our next visit.

The second stay at the hotel was good overall but the room was not satisfied with the cleaning. Many guests have not been cleaned and cleaned for 2 days. Breakfast is still worthy of recognition. The front desk service is also very good. The sea view and courtyard view are beautiful
