Bit of a shame
We stayed for 1 night, arrived late at night, there was someone present when we arrived and they checked us in, breakfast was to be served at 8:30 in the morning.
We showed up at 8:40 for breakfast, no one there, we looked everywhere, not a soul, we tried calling the hotel, no answer. Breakfast isnt really included if theres no one to serve breakfast! We had to go somewhere else instead.
Only plus point was that the beds were comfy.

The latest owners took over less than three weeks before our stay and the operation is clearly in transition. Management and staff very friendly, food was excellent and room was a little dated.

The property could do with a revamp, but as the new management have only been in 2 weeks I'm sure this will be done, lovely staff and extremely hard working, a shame ******* didn't tell them we were coming as the previous owner hadn't run the property properly.

Comfortable stay
The important question first: would I stay there again, and the answer is certainly yes. Bear in mind that this is formerly an old pub and some of the rooms have a quirkiness to go with it. Nevertheless, they are comfortable with everything you would expect from a modern hotel. The restaurant is good - don't miss Steak Night - and is recently reopened so the menu isn't in full swing. I've docked a point as the restaurant heating was broken for part of our stay but we were fine with big sweaters! Ian at front of house with Samuel in the kitchen are making a good job of getting the customers back.

Loved Noel at Whitwell
My friend and I had a lovely stay here last night. We arrived in the afternoon and were warmly welcomed by Karen. We were really well looked after by Karen and her team and nothing was too much trouble.
Our twin room was lovely and the beds really comfortable with lovely touches in the bathroom in case we had forgotten anything.
Our food in the restaurant was delicious … the best steak I have had in a while and my friend said her burger was amazing.
A real gem of a place at Rutland and we will definitely be back!
So lovely to find somewhere with great food, comfortable rooms and amazing customer service.
