Rooms are bit dated and tired. Beds and pillows could be better. Staff pleasant. Didn't eat here as dining room empty and uninviting

Having visited on previous occasions, I took the opportunity to introduce the terrace bar to my friend. Whilst I waited at the table, my friend went to the bar to fetch drinks. Some 45 minutes later, we decided to order a light lunch and another drink. My friend entered the bar area but there wasn’t a member of staff anywhere to be seen. She went further into the hotel and asked a lady near Reception if we could order lunch. The response was that “we haven’t anything to offer”My friend was astonished and asked “nothing? Not even a sandwich?” The reply was an emphatic “No”. My friend then said “you do realise that you’re driving custom away” to which, the response was a shrug of the shoulders !! We duly left the hotel and found somewhere else that had a better attitude toward customers and there, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch The hotel’s website advertises “Light Lunch” between 10 -4.” This would appear to be totally incorrect At a time when the hospitality industry is beleaguered, i am at a total loss to understand why there was such apathy displayed by the member of staff !

Thank you to all at The Royal Hotel for making our wedding day so special at such short notice! All staff at the hotel have been amazing, really friendly, helpful and accommodating. A special thank you to Amber for turning it around so quickly and running it so smoothly on the day. Also to Sandie and the team, they were amazing looking after us and our quests, nothing was too much for them, and they worked so hard, Sandie in the evening made sure we ate, and put a plate of food together for Andy and I and brought it to our table 😊 We had a truly amazing day

Horrible inside. Needs work .Our room was meant to be updated definitely was not. Smell wallpaper coming of walls and ceiling.Staff not nice.bathroom Horrible mould round the shower and sink.towels dirty bed wasn't charged before us.as

It was at best OK. On arrival the receptionist treated me like a naughty schoolboy. (I am 70+}The room went out of date 30 years ago. The room was not serviced. I would normally stay in the Wetherspoons around the corner . And considering it is the same price or cheaper I will always do so in future.where I will receive better service and double room etc.
