I was in town alone for work and Margaret and Dan made me feel right at home like I was in town visiting family. The inn was cozy, beautiful, and the company (human and pup alike) and breakfasts were to die for. I will be coming back for pleasure!!

Stunning location
Absolutely beautiful B&B! Marge & Dan are wonderful hosts. They cooked us farm to table breakfast and home baked gluten free bread. Incredibly accommodating with my gluten sensitivity. Much appreciated. Grounds and view were spectacular! Highly recommend.

What a beautiful place for my daughter and I to connect, relax and enjoy all the Inn and town has to offer. The home and surroundings are beautiful! We enjoyed walking by the river and next time would love to make time to enjoy a bonfire. The delicious breakfasts were served in their cozy spaces, overlooking the river with a woodburning stove too. The room was so clean and inviting with everything we needed and the birdwatching from the sunny balcony was such a bonus! Margaret and Dan are such kind hosts and their dogs were so sweet, we wanted to take them home. :) We will be back!

Lovely location to take a walk or just relax and watch the river. Margaret gave us a good recommendation for dinner, and knew exactly where to go for the best chance of seeing Comet Atlas (and we were successful!). We would definitely stay there again.

The Inn at the River was the perfect place to stay. We stayed in the Willow Room, and it was comfortable, cozy, and the fireplace was a beautiful touch. The view of the river is beautiful. Walking the trails on the property was so peaceful you could hear the wind rustling the autumn leaves on the trees. Theodore and Norman (adorable pets) greeted us each time we came into the home - such a fun pair! Dan and Margaret are excellent hosts with great conversation, delicious and filling breakfasts, and great coffee. The Inn is in a quiet area yet close to many amenities. We would definitely stay here again in the future. Thank you Margaret and Dan for a relaxing stay.

A beautiful place. Very quiet. We put our kayaks in the river that meanders by the property and enjoyed a scenic paddle up the river and a pleasant float back to the house. They will provide kayaks if you don't bring your own. Comfortable room with a lovely view of the wildflowers and potted plants in the backyard. Enjoyed the chocolates and a sip of the Port we found in our room. We enjoyed chatting with our hosts over breakfast. They were happy to share places to see and things to do at our final destination in Northern Michigan, and the recommendations were spot on! We hope to return the next time we are in the area.

This place was amazing, as well as the hosts. We are still talking about it, and looking for excuses to head back to Wausau. When we do, we know where to stay. My husband and I stayed in the River Suite and found it to be a perfect fit for us as we needed to stay in the area for 7 nights. I loved having two spacious rooms with a wonderful balcony off the bedroom to allow us time to relax and look at the beautiful scenery full of trees, flowers, birds, and river. All of the breakfasts were delicious and the hospitality Margaret and Dan provided made for a pleasurable stay. Highly recommend!

What a beautiful home and a very relaxing setting. Our room was very quiet and private, yet we were close to public areas. The breakfast was excellent, and the hosts are very courteous. We would gladly return. The view in the back has the river and very nice natural landscaping. There is a gas fired fire pit available for guests, but unfortunately, we did not have time to use it. Access is very easy into town.
