Best Western Hunts Landing Hotel Matamoras/Milford

Stay was okay but late night front desk was a little confrontational for really no reason and the bathroom was completely disgusting.

I can't express enough positive feelings about it; everything is perfect—cleanliness, comfort, terraces, ambiance, and two wonderful restaurants on site, all combine to create a valued experience. This place evokes the magic of the starring hotel in Dirty Dancing. It was lovely, lovely.

Best Western Hunt's Landing HotelThere’s a lot to like about this rather aging but still appealing Indian-owned hotel, very close to I-84. The exterior property was lovely, and the first-floor conference areas and cool-looking steakhouse (was it still open?) signaled that this might be a good place to hold a company event. The desk clerk's greeting was cordial and, because I'm a BW awards member, I was offered my choice of beverage from the cooler ... nice. That warmth was chilled somewhat by the frightening desk sign, warning that unreported pets in this “pet-friendly” property would result in a $100 fee. Unnecessary. Then, as now, in my traveling experience, Indians running motels rely on pet fees as a way to pad the bill. In the way-back times, they were downright hostile to us. Please note: "Our kids have paws." While the room was well-equipped and clean – save the fact that I was left only 1/3 of a roll of toilet paper to use -- the decor was average. The price I paid was not -- $168.73, all in, high for this area. But I had splurged for an in-spa room, and that's when things started to backslide. The hot tub had no handle grips, no soap, shampoo or conditioner. I used the flimsy bath towels from the bathroom; there were at least large and small bars of soap in there to use for the bath. Whining aside ... wow, that was the best bath I've had in ... well, the last time I booked a Best Western in-spa room. I'm guessing this hotel was considered an old gem in its day. But investment in its upkeep is waning. The old-style toilet in the room was having trouble flushing, and while the lamps had plenty of 110v plugs there were no USB power interfaces anywhere (note to travelers: be sure to have a stash of USB-to-110v in your bag). The breakfast started early, 6 a.m. but, in keeping with the theme, the offerings were average (and those powdered eggs taste like ... powder). The nearby restrooms, down a darkened hall, looked almost glamorous – until you noticed the hand towels were in the form of big paper rolls left haphazardly by the sinks. Travelers looking for a quick, reliable overnight should be very satisfied staying here. That said, my four-star rating feels rather like a gift. If you’re going to be staying in the area for a while longer, I’d shop around. Matamoras/Milford

It’s an older property but well kept up. Staff was very nice. Restaurant was great.

Several options for breakfast, wonderful check-in, very close to a Perkins and a grocery store.

Quiet, friendly, clean, great breakfast hotel. It was great for our stay. Very quiet. We appreciate that you did have us stay on the 2nd floor, really nice to stay in room facing the lake. Our last experience was on the first floor by the door to ice machine & soda machines, with people coming & going & never having the curtesy to hold the door when they entered the hall. This was a great room. The breakfast was terrific in the main lobby, thank you. The lady working there was very nice & professional.
