Dear Chumbi Resort Team, We thank you for a memorable stay. Everything about our stay here, from your hospitality to the setting and staff were welcoming and warm. We have stayed in several Mahindra resorts in the past, but this one stands out. And for all the good reasons. We came in during lean season, giving us time and space (and silence) to allow us to visit Pelling as a traveler not just a tourist- unrestricted views of the snow clad Kanchenjunga, the crisp mountain air and roar of the bees. Three days in, and we didn’t want to leave the resort. We had come here to relax, and we got all we wanted and more. But before we share why we loved the property, we would like to say thank you to a whole host of beautiful souls, many of whom, work in the background and some of whom we interacted only briefly. A special thank you to talented Chefs Jiten, Chef Rana, Mr. Shishir and their team for generously taking the time to teach us how to cook traditional Sikkimese dishes like Saag fry and Ragi rotis. Learning about local cuisine in the rustic setting of your beautiful outdoor kitchen set up was a highlight of our trip—an experience we’ll treasure. Trying out Sel roti, Aalo dum, Pahadi tikki among others was just too good. The Dyenkhang Speciality Restaurant deserves a special mention. The Sikkimese thali served there was outstanding—truly unlike anything we’ve tasted before. Thanks to Ashish, F&B manager, and his team - you allowed us to appreciate the culinary soul of Sikkim. The Thali was nothing short of a masterclass in elegance and flavour! What stood out the most, however, was the warmth and camaraderie of your staff. Not only were you all attentive and kind, but your strong bonds with one another created a joyful atmosphere. Watching (and joining!) the evening volleyball matches between guests and staff added a wonderfully playful touch to the whole experience. Durga, thank you for being polite despite our off-key karaoke performances! Thank you Mr. Mani, Resort Manager for introducing your culture to us. Thank you also to Mr. Abhishek, Housekeeping manager- you took care of our every requirement. The Chumbi resort itself is a masterpiece in a beautiful setting. The aesthetic charm, calming garden spaces, and serene views—especially of the Kanchenjunga peak—are breathtaking. We loved how every element tells a story- from the wood of the suspension bridge over the holy Rathong river used in the courtyard, to the replica of the Three Chortens, the Japanese style panels outside the restaurant, and the walls lined with history-rich photographs. These details makes the resort feel less like a hotel and more like a beautifully preserved home steeped in culture. Thank you once again for crafting such a thoughtful, immersive, and peaceful retreat. We feel refreshed, inspired, and full of gratitude. You truly offer hospitality at its finest. Warm regards, Dani Family July 2025
