AmericInn by Wyndham Hill City Mt Rushmore

If have no idea why others rated this hotel as highly as they did. For an almost $200 room, the place wreaked of cigarette smoke which promptly aggravated my asthma to the point I went into a full attack. I was placed in a room which was obviously smoked in, despite it being a 'non-smoking facility' and had to go down to the front desk to request a new room - while the second room was not as bad, it still stunk and burned my eyes/nostrils while not alieviating my athsma. I finally went down to the front desk and requested a full refund. The only good part was that the person at the front desk was very accommodating and issued the refund immediately (only reason they got 2 stars vs. 1). Had to search for another hotel that night the day before 4th of July which was not easy. Finally found one about an hour to the northwest which was half the price with clean air so I could breathe and get a good night's sleep. I sadly will never stay at a Wyndham property again due to this experience.

Great, friendly staff. Very clean property. Very well maintained. Very short walk into downtown and the train. Breakfast was standard fare but the were always on top of it so nothing ever ran out. Plenty of parking on the property as well. Would stay there again.
