We stayed here for two nights after spending three nights in the BWCA. The hotel has been modernized, but many original features remain. Unfortunately we didn’t have a room on the Lake side of the Lodge. We did walk across the road and put our feet in the chilly waters of Lake Superior. As a guest of the Lodge we were given a 10% discount on food at the Cascade Restaurant. We were supplied with a fan but could have used another as it stayed rather warm the two overnights we were there.

We stayed in Cabin 11, and it was everything we hoped it would be! From the Cascade Creek that ran past the little rustic log cabin to the cute little bridge we had to walk across to get our cabin...we felt like we were on our own secluded island! The cabin was cute, cozy, comfortable and only steps away from the Cascade Restaurant and Pub! The lodge employees were super friendly and very accommodating. The service at the restaurant was excellent. We were not disappointed with the menu choices offered at very reasonable prices. You have to try one of their Bloody Mary's! Everything we wanted to see and do was within an hour's drive from our cabin. We will definitely stay here again!

We decided spur of the moment since it was a nice wk end to drive up to the North Shore and we stayed our first night at Cascade Lodge in Lutsen.....We stayed in room 210 in the Lodge it was quaint but very comfortable and well appointed, the location was very quiet and had lake views from our room. They had a super comfortable bed with a somewhat weighted blanket which was really nice. Room was a little on the warm side overall but they provided a fan in the room for guests and my husband also opened up the window at night and had a good breeze and was very comfortable. There were some cool views we took some photos of just right outside of the location and the sky was super cool at night it lit up green and we got a photo of that just from the front of the hotel at night. It was a good option for lodging for the location and they have several different types of lodging options as well as a restaurant and game room on site and gift shop. We had a fun time and we would stay there again if traveling bk thru the area.

It was chicken fried steak and Bloody Mary morning. What a cute place! The fireplace was going, everything was clean and so organized, and the breakfast was really good. I don’t know why we haven’t stopped here before, but we will be back soon!

Exceptional stay. Best lodging on the north shore and some of the best dining as well. My family took a trip here in mid-November and we included our pups as well and it was a great location for them too. We stayed in the cabins and another family member stayed in the lodge and both were clean and cozy. Having private lakefront access for guests only was a huge bonus. The food at the lodge is noteworthy as well. The perfect homebase for a North Shore trip.

Spent one night at the Cascade Lodge as we journeyed along the North Shore. Our room was clean and comfortable. Someone had unplugged the mini fridge and it defrosted and left a puddle in the middle of the room. The front desk attendant quickly cleaned things up, was very apologetic, and gave a coupon to redeem for a free appetizer in the restaurant next door. Wasn’t necessary, but much appreciated nonetheless. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

My mom, her dog, and I had a very nice stay in Basecamp unit 5d. It was pretty "rustic"; however, I knew that when I booked it so that was not a surprise. If you are looking for a luxury experience, this unit is not for you. We were looking for something relatively clean, affordable, and in a good location and Cascade Lodge was perfect in that respect. The beds were comfortable, a little firm for my personal taste, but seemed fairly new and in good condition. I will note that my mom has mobility issues and did find the shower floor to be rather slippery. Also, the carpeted areas could do with a good shampooing as our socks did get dirty walking on them. But overall, we felt that it was good value for what we got.

I would never stay here again, nor recommend it to friends. First, the good: the location is amazing and magical (waterfalls, beautiful rocky coast, a short drive to Grand Marais), the staff member who welcomed us was friendly and we loved the free coffee/tea in the lodge. We also really appreciated the playset for kids. The main lodge room was lovely and clean and it seemed (from photos) like the upper rooms in the lodge might have been nice. But we stayed in a cabin and had a terrible experience. I don't mind outdated decor or old furniture, but this place felt like it shouldn't have been open to guests. There were huge streaks of black mold on the bathroom ceiling, rot/disrepair in the bathroom floor so bad that the tiles moved when we stepped on them and cut our feet. The beds were awful- they sagged in the middle and gave us headaches to sleep in. A window was broken in our bedroom and it wouldn’t open. When we told the person at the front desk about the problems, he came to look at the cabin and told us no one had complained besides us. He said the mattresses had been replaced 3 years ago (which seemed irrelevant to us as they were terrible when we slept in them) and that, yep, the window is broken, you need to just disassemble it if you want fresh air in your room. No apologies were offered and nothing was done to make things better beyond showing us how to disassemble the window to let in fresh air. I felt disrespected staying here - the cabin wasn't just old and smelly - it was in disrepair and unsafe. We’d been camping before staying here and preferred our campsite to this place. We even brought our camping air mattresses in to sleep on the floor because the beds were so bad. There were also several parts of the resort that smelled like sewage - it seemed like a plumbing or septic issue. I’ve never left a bad review anywhere before but this place was expensive, gross and unsafe. These are health and safety violations. It felt rude and dangerous that they’d allow guests to stay here - paid or unpaid.

Great lodge with all that I wanted. Great common area with a Lake view, on-site restaurant, helpful staff, and adjacent to a State park. I loved my cabin with a wood stove. Kiln-dried wood available for purchase. I walked into the park from my cabin.
