Basic lodging, close to hiking trails and waterfall. It is across the road from Lake Superior. 10 mins drive from the town Grand Marais.

Nice place to stop for a 2-3 days to enjoy the lake and Cascade rive trails. Nothing fancy, but place has everything you might need. Nice and friendly staff. Lodge is in a great location: Grand Marais only 10 miles east and Temperance rive trails about 20 miles west. I wasn't impressed by their restaurant + live music was way to laud, and we were going for supper to Grand Marais where we had much better choices for the same price or even less. Overall, I would recommend this place.

We arrived just before the kitchen closed after driving all day and were exhausted. The staff was friendly, cheerful and accommodating. The meals were prepared with care and attention to detail. My quinoa and fresh fruit salad was a masterpiece in presentation with chewy quinoa, fresh crunchy spinach and flavourful fresh berries, and it tasted as good as it looked. My husband had the most delicious looking rueben piled with sliced meat and bubbly melted swiss cheese. We were also thrilled to get a discount as we were staying in the adjacent Cascade Lodge. The hotel was roomy, clean, quaint in a good way, and provided us with a nice rejuvenating sleep! Our view of Lake Superior and her haunting fog made for a magical stay. Well worth the stop!

Very nice rustic cabins. Clean, even the interior logs were dusted. The C1 cabin had a large bathroom well stock with towels and bathroom amenities. Great view of the lake from inside and the small deck. And somehow the bed was more comfortable than my bed at home.
