The Telford Whitehouse Hotel

DO NOT GO HERE. We stayed last year and we're underwhelmed. However, for the price and for our specific reason for being in the area (event), it was cheap so booked again for the upcoming weekend. Today, 24 hours before we were due to arrive, we had a call to tell us that the booking was being cancelled, but they were "not at liberty to say why". It seems, however, people had been finding out about the closures for months - I just hadn't been aware. We had booked 5 months in advance. This is absolutely unacceptable and shocking that they can do this.

Do not book with this hotel. The worst customer service I've ever had. The hotel is actually closed for 12 months but has made no one or no booking sites aware. You can still book this place on ***********! 0 communication from the hotel or *********** Hotel not answering emails, messages or calls. Very luckily had free cancellation so have got my money back but would have turned up next week with no accommodation on one of the busiest weekends in Telford. Absolutely awful do not book to stay here.

Avoid at all costs. We booked this hotel back in January. And last night received a phone call saying they had to cancel. A week before we go. No explanation or anything. We already paid for the room so we are now out of pocket. We were coming for an event and we have lost £800 because of them which is non refundable. Shocking because they have been closed for a month and didn't let me know until now. So it is too late to arrange somewhere else to stay as everywhere is booked or way too expensive.

Booked direct with the hotel. On Friday 24th March was informed that hotel was being closed on Sunday and we had to get all our belongings out by then. The manager confirmed that a refund would be paid from their head office. 4 weeks later still waiting for a refund of £420.65 despite numerous emails & telephone conversations requesting the refund. Absolutely shocking. Will never stay there again or recommend to anyone.

We booked this hotel as a group of friends months ago in preparation for an event we were travelling to Telford for in May. Had a call from a very rude woman this week to say our booking had been cancelled (with less than a month to go until the trip) because 'the boiler had exploded'. She was non apologetic and didn't sound one bit sorry or concerned and didn't have any suggestions as to how we could resolve this. Totally appreciate that exploding boilers are beyond their control, but her attitude made me question whether this actually is the case. A quick Google search shows that their boiler exploded just last January (would this really happen again a year later?) and I can see from these reviews that other customers were told the hotel was closing anyway. If this is the case, why are they lying and causing complete chaos for guests that booked with them in good faith? Fortunately we found alternative accommodation that has much better reviews but I'm sure many people will now be stuck for what is likely to be a very busy weekend. Wouldn't be shocked in the slightest if this hotel suddenly reopens and charges double for the cancelled rooms for same time period... we are watching...

Hi whitehouse hotel telford. You employed my son for around a month in 2022 then sacked him without good reason as proper training wasn't given too him. He as been waiting for his wages since last year. You have ignored all communications. Even your telephone staff agree with me you take people on for few weeks and sack them without pay then ignore all communications. This hotel needs a management shake up. One place I'd never ever stay again. Withholding teenagers wages how low do you get?
