Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa

I'll start with the beach, it's not safe to swim or bathe at Weligama Beach. This is a great beach for surfers, especially beginners. There are hundreds of them! The hotel pools are small and shallow. We went swimming at the Turtle Beach in the Merisa area, 8 km from the hotel. A tuk tuk costs 1,000 rupees (they don't lower the price!), a bus costs 35 rupees (numbers 350, 346/2), sometimes they are packed. Sun loungers at Turtle Beach cost 1,000 rupees, the water is clean, the sand is colorful, and you'll find sea turtles if you try. Almost all the rooms overlook the sea, the cleaning is decent. The breakfasts are good. But the dinners are mainly aimed at Indians, we went a couple of times to try Indian cuisine, but it's hard to make friends with it. Right behind the bright building of the Ceylon Spa store, 50 meters away, there is a good restaurant serving Russian cuisine run by our compatriots. The lobby often hosts events in the evening: dancing with and without fire. On the Buddhist full moon holiday you can't buy alcohol not only in the store, but also in the hotel. There are tables in the lobby where managers sit, apparently offering transfers and excursions. But there is NOT a single advertising brochure. Only two signs: travel and activities. It is clear that they never have people. Maybe the hotel will read this and fix the situation. But you can take excursions from tuk tuks and they will take you to local attractions. In Galle there is a bus 350 without a fraction, the final stop is not far from the fort. The bus stops are next to the hotel on the right, if you get off, it is advisable to wave your hand, pay the conductor. The hotel is good, if you want a decent level of the hotel, then taking into account all the nuances of the distance from the beach and being prepared for this, then it is normal 🙂 Another piece of advice for fruit is also to the right of the hotel 200-300 meters, the second shop along the way is much cheaper. The supermarket is on the left, 500-600 meters.
