Cobblestone Inn & Suites - Waverly

The accommodation impresses with its comfortable beds, excellent breakfast variety, and friendly staff. It's conveniently located near shopping areas and Wartburg College, offering clean, spacious rooms for a quiet stay.

Waverly is a wonderful little town and the Cobblestone Hotel is perfectly situated in the central business district along the scenic river. The hotel is well-kept, and staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. I appreciate a free breakfast while traveling; this one could be improved a bit but was satisfactory. Otherwise, this was a wonderful one-night stay and I hope to visit Waverly again soon!

When I first checked in and brought my luggage to my room, I found my bed was unmade, and it appeared that someone had recently slept in the bed. The front desk person didn't seem shocked by this, which tells me that this must be normal. In my entire life, I have never checked into a hotel/motel room that had an unmade bed, and I was surprised the front desk person didn't just comp me a at least a portion of the total cost. Needless to say, I was promptly relocated to a new room with the same features. A single king-sized bed for one person for one night. When I went to adjust the air conditioner, I noticed there were stains on the front of the air conditioner where something brown had dripped onto the unit from above and had never been wiped off. Having done forensic photography in the past, I knew it wasn't rust. More than likely it was cola or coffee that just never got cleaned up. Needless to say, I then grew suspicious of the hotel's overall cleanliness, and I opted not to sleep under the bed's comforter. Later that night, when I began preparing for bed, I laid down in the middle of the king size, and the mattress nearly buckled in the middle. I'm a 6'4" 300-pound middle-aged man, and this king-sized mattress didn't support me. My body sank so low into the mattress that it took all my strength just to climb off the bed. I found the firmest portion of the mattress was at the foot of the bed, so that's where I slept. But, because of it all, I likely slept only 2-4 hours before waking up and leaving the next morning. As I was checking out, the front desk person asked if I wanted a printed receipt or if I wanted it emailed. I opted to have it emailed, and she read the email address they had for me, from when I reserved my room. My email address contains a dot in my name, and the email address she read to me didn't contain a dot in my name. So, I told her that they had my email address wrong, and she actually had the audacity to say, "No, that's not right. There is no dot in this one" to which I replied, "I know my own email address. I give it out often, and I don't tell people the wrong email address, so whoever took my reservation clearly just didn't record it correctly." The front desk lady said didn't apologize and instead smiled and said, "We'll just print out a copy." HOWEVER, she must have corrected my email address, because I received this survey to fill out at my email address. Upon loading up my vehicle, I noticed someone wearing a name tag sitting on the couch and watching TV in the guest lounge area. I asked her if she was a cleaning lady, and she said she was. The fact that this hotel allows its cleaning staff to sit in the guest lounge, right by the entrance, is absolutely appalling. Apparently, this outfit has absolutely no self respect. After submitting a review like this one at their request, I received a message saying someone from the hotel would be in touch with me soon to resolve my concerns. That was about 36 hours a
