The staff were very nice, the owner/manager was very unaccomadting. We had booked in for 2 weeks and booked in with a gluten free person. Virtually nothing provided, only could have grilled fish. There was a dog that free roamed in restaurant area and it had fleas. We were bitten constantly. We asked to leave with some money refunded but were declined. The Manager did not even have the decency to inform us and made his receptionist informed us. It is the most unpleasant experience I have had after having had a fabulous 6 previous weeks travelling around Africa

Returned to Muvuvi for the fifth time and we were greeted as friends not guests. Stella on reception, always smiling, made us feel at home straight away. Justin does not stand still. Few changes from last year. Far better layout for the dining and kitchen area. Food even better, well done Nzai, Anthony and Eric. Have said it before, if you want total relaxation Muvuvi is the place. Leah looks after the rooms and we had a lovely flower greeting on our bed, lovely gesture. Pool and garden always immaculate, thank you Kapanga. And as for Saudi and Robert who looked after the bar and restaurant super efficient, thanks guys. Justin, you have a “gem” of a boutique hideaway. See you next year Rafiki Anthony Sanders

Shockingly bad I had booked a room at Mvuvi 5 months ago and was told when I arrived that they had overbooked. I was thrown into a random house in Watamu, dogs running through the room, the person in the next room being violently sick all night. The house wasn’t even on the map so I got very lost late at night trying to find it. Mvuvi must have known about the overbooking months ago, but only told me on my arrival. I had an option of another hotel originally, which I would have obviously taken if I’d have known what would happen in advance. Mvuvi have charged me the full rate for something that was not a hotel - no food, soap etc. and they have not even offered an apology. It’s the second time I’ve had issues booking with them (last time they changed the dates of my stay without telling me) so I will never be staying there again and I strongly encourage people to avoid it as well.

Our stay in Mvuvi was absolutely wonderful. The staff there were so friendly and I cannot recommend it enough. The breakfast is AMAZING. The location is great and you are in walking distance of Ocean Sports (literally 2 minutes) I will be coming back as soon as I can. Thank you especially to Stella, Diana and Justin!

TERRIBLE VACATION This is the first time I have given such a low rating, I usually give it a 10. But this hotel is just a terrible case! We chose here at the Booking based on reviews that, apparently, were greatly exaggerated. But, everything is in order. Firstly, as soon as we got to the hotel, the woman at the reception “delighted” us with the news that they were all booked and had some kind of overbooking, so on our last day from here we would leave and spend it at some their friend’s hotel. Seriously? Will we spend our last day on the ocean moving to your friends? We said strong “no”, it's your problem. Those woman called Justin, the hotel owner, and he said, well, ok, we’ll solve this problem somehow. Justin, for the future, if there is such a problem, then guests are not presented with such a choice. For moving “to friends” you need to offer something, a couple of free dinners, an excursion, money as compensation. You are running a business, and you should know this. Further, worse, our toilet was broken, after complaining, Justin called a plumber. We woke up at night and the entire floor was covered in water that was flowing from the toilet bowl. On the first day, the plumber changed the toilet, but the water did not flush anything, on the second day the situation did not improve and Justin called the plumber again. So again, we watched in the room as he fixed the toilet. On a good note, they replaced our old shower cap with a new one. Whoever will be staying in our FUNZI room, don't thank us! On the fourth day, the roof in the room above my bed collapsed. We got used to all sorts of beetles and scolopendras, but still asked for it to be repaired. We waited 2 days. As for silence and relaxation, it’s simply not here. At night, the noise from discos makes it difficult to sleep, at least for us, on the second floor. There is also no time to rest during the day, the owner is building a kitchen right in front of the rooms, there is constant noise and it gives you a headache. I hope that the rooms on the second floor will not be rented out, because all the smells will go into the rooms. There is almost always music playing in the hotel, but since the equipment is very cheap, all the bass went to us on the second floor. If you can hear music on the first floor, then on the second you can only hear boom-boom. Combined with the kitchen being built, we had a constant headache. A couple of times the owner came with friends, as if to his summer house, music was playing loudly, they were playing billiards. Mike, Justin's uncle, was trying to kiss my sister. What is this anyway? How dare you treat guests like this and exhibit such behavior? Justin, the owner, stopped greeting us altogether on the third day and even noticing us. This is hospitality. But when three families arrived and occupied six rooms, there were hugs, friendly conversations, and they even put new ketchup bottles in the restaurant. Let me add, it was my birthday! In all hotels they al

I arrived at Mvuvi Lodge having booked 6 months ago, only to be told that they had overbooked and put me in a house down the road. This house had dogs running through the rooms, no food / water / soap, and was on a dodgy road that was impossible to find as it wasn’t on maps. I spent 45 minutes trying to find it late at night, which was potentially dangerous. I woke up to the sound of the man in the room next to me being violently sick. I held my breath and rushed out of the house. When I went back to Mvuvi they didn’t offer any sort of refund for what was absolutely not a hotel room. They had known about the overbooking months before, but decided not to tell me until I arrived (I had originally had another hotel I could have stayed at had they told me earlier). This is not even the first time they have been deceptive over bookings, having tried to change the dates of my stay last year without telling me. I would strongly advise not staying here unless you are willing to take the risk of staying in a random, uncharted house in the middle of the village (for the full price of a hotel room).

Helpful, friendly, peaceful and although it’s not on the beach this place has an access agreement through another hotel grounds that means it moments away. The rooms, restaurant and bar at all around the poll in the centre. Housekeeping and grounds staff work hard to keep the place immaculately clean and the staff on the bar and I the restaurant were super friendly and helpful. The menu is reasonably priced and the food portions large enough and the quality good. The reception staff were both very welcoming and arranged for us to rent their SUPs and get them to a nearby beach by Tuk-tuk. A short stay but can’t fault the place, especially the staff team.
