We are looking forward to hosting you but there are a few things you need to do in order to make sure that you, and all of our guests, are safe and that everyone can enjoy their respective stays! Please note that if you book a short-term rental (under 30 days), you will be contacted by Truvi directly to verify yourself. Please make sure this is completed prior to check-in. 2) Please confirm that you accept the following House Rules and Responsibilities on behalf of yourself and guests. A violation of the House Rules can result in an immediate termination of your reservation without refund. For the comfort of our guests, residents and members of the Sojourn team, smoking of any kind (marijuana, cigarettes, or vaping) is not permitted anywhere in the interior of our building or within fifty (50) feet of our building, including outdoor spaces. Should our team or neighbors report the odor of smoke we will contact the booking service, terminate your stay, claim any and all damages, including but not limited to a $500 smoking fee, and post the appropriate review. Parties and events are strictly prohibited. All Sojourn homes are equipped with noise monitoring devices (decibel readers), your privacy is safe however, noise levels exceeding normal levels are grounds for ending your stay and are strictly enforced. In the event we are notified of any excess noise, music, gathering or parties a Sojourn representative will respond and your reservation will be terminated without refund. Please also note that all Sojourn buildings and homes are equipped with some type of exterior camera that records the exterior and common areas to include all entries to the building. What NOT to Flush Down the Toilet or put down drains or in the garbage disposal - If found that these cause plumbing issues Sojourn can and will charge the guest. * Cooking Grease/Food/Coffee grinds should never be poured down any drain, period. * Feminine Products. Tampons and other feminine hygiene products are not supposed to be flushed down the toilet. * Baby Wipes/Wet Wipes/Cleaning Pads * Dental Floss * Q-tips/Cotton Balls * Diapers * Pills * Paper Towels/Tissues 3) While this home is not pet friendly, we might have other homes available that welcome your pets and suit your needs. Please reach out to the Sojourn Guest Services Team for more information. 4) We are happy to provide both a Pack and Play and/or high chair. These must be reserved in advance and a $25 rental fee will be charged. 5) If you are booking a flat in Washington DC and will have a vehicle, please inquire in advance about a parking pass. Please note that neither Sojourn nor the property owner shall be held liable for any loss, theft, damage, or injury to the vehicle or any personal property therein, nor for any injury to the driver, passengers, or any other person, arising out of or in connection with the use of the parking space. Any use of the parking space is at the sole risk of the vehicle owner or driver. Neither Sojourn nor the owner guarantee the safety or security of any vehicle parked in the parking space and disclaims any responsibility for any acts of theft, vandalism, or other criminal activity. 6) There may be times where the home needs unexpected, or scheduled preventative maintenance. While we do our best not to interrupt your stay with us, sometimes this cannot be avoided thus Sojourn reserves the right to gain access to the properties at any time, after providing our guests with 24 hour written notice. 7) This home is below a family with a small quiet dog and there may be some residual noise during the day. We have done our best to mitigate sound transfer. Please let us know how we can make your stay more comfortable. House Rules & Guest Responsibilities We kindly ask that you review and confirm acceptance of the following House Rules on behalf of yourself and all guests in your party. These standards help us protect our homes, respect our neighbors, and ensure every guest has a serene Sojourn experience. Violation of these rules could result in a termination of your reservation without refund. No Smoking To keep things fresh and comfortable for all guests, smoking (including cigarettes, marijuana, and vaping) is not allowed inside the home or within 50 feet of the building—including outdoor spaces. If smoke is reported or detected, we may need to end your stay, apply a $500 cleaning fee, and report the issue to the booking platform. We hope you understand—it’s all about keeping the space pleasant for everyone. Parties or Events Quiet Enjoyment We love a good time—but we also love our peace and quiet! Parties and events aren’t allowed, and all of our homes have decibel readers that help us monitor for loud noise (don’t worry—they don’t record anything). If we receive a report about excessive noise or gatherings, a team member may check in, and your reservation could be canceled without refund. Thanks for helping us keep things serene for our neighbors and other guests! Security Notice All Sojourn properties are equipped with exterior security cameras, including coverage of entryways and common areas that are recording at all times. These are used for guest safety, property protection, and in some cases to ensure compliance with local city regulations. There are no interior cameras inside any of our homes. Plumbing Etiquette — What Not to Flush or Dispose Please only flush toilet paper—no wipes, feminine products, or anything else. And avoid putting grease or non-food items down the drain or garbage disposal. Plumbing repairs can be expensive, and we’d hate to have to pass that cost along to you! Linens & Care At Sojourn, we provide luxury linens of the highest quality for your comfort. We kindly ask that you help us care for them by following these guidelines. Do not use towels or bedding for cleaning, makeup removal, hair dye or any other activities that could permanently stain the linens. If linens are found to be permanently stained or damaged, we will request reimbursement for the cost of replacement. No Fireworks For your safety and to comply with local regulations, fireworks—including sparklers—are strictly prohibited at all Sojourn properties.. No Pets Unfortunately, this property is not pet friendly. If you’re traveling with a pet, please reach out to us—many of our other homes warmly welcome furry friends. It includes a fireplace, full kitchen, enormous closet space, a new Queen pull-out sofa, washer/dryer, dishwasher, WIFI, Cable TV with Netflix. Enjoy a cup of coffee first thing every morning with a Nespresso machine and complimentary pods. There are two book shops, a Trader Joes, Bullfrog Bagels and a vintage movie theater around the corner. The washer and dryer allow you to easily do laundry, ideal for both short and long-term stays. It is the perfect spot to explore DC, visit family, work on the Hill, or just walk around the beautiful Capitol Hill neighborhood.The apartment easily accommodates 4 people (two (2) queen beds: one bed and one sleeper sofa). Please make the reservation for the number who will stay in the apartment to make sure it is properly stocked. The apartment is keyless entry. You will receive the code to access the unit in advance of your arrival.GUEST ACCESSThe apartment is a 5 min walk to Eastern Market Metro (silver, orange, and blue lines). There is also the DC Circular, a $1 bus that takes you from Eastern Market to many of the sites in the city. Finally, there are many City Bike rentals within a five block radius, and we're happy to lend you some helmets if you like.PARKINGStreet parking passes are available upon request — just ask when booking and we are happy to make the arrangements. There is also a paid parking garage one block away.Other things to noteThe apartment has its own separate entrance. However, unlike some short-term rentals, we actually live upstairs in the building. Welcome to "Your Capitol Hill Homestead"! The Homestead is perfect for out-of-town family visits, sightseeing, or a space for those temporarily working in the city. The home has lots of light, spacious rooms, and comfort not found in many stays. Some amenities include a gourmet equipped kitchen, a fenced-in backyard, and permit-free parking. Located near restaurants, shops, public transportation, and parks. We are tucked in the center of a quiet block in the Historic Capitol Hill neighborhood.The Property:This house is a two-bedroom and 2.5-bath home with an open floor plan on the main level. You enter the home from the street up 9 stairs to the front porch and main level. The main level has an entryway, dining room, living room, kitchen, and half bath. With the two bedrooms and two full bathrooms upstairs, and an air mattress available, 11 stairs up. Outside is a backyard and porch, 5 stairs down to the yard. While there are a ton of amazing dining options within walking distance if you prefer to do it yourself, walk to the nearby Eastern Market farmer's market on Saturdays and Sundays. Groceries nearby are Safeway, Trader Joe's, and Yes! Organic Market to make use of the fully stocked kitchen. The kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, toaster, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, dishwasher, in-sink garbage disposal, oven, and 5-burner range. Kitchenware includes pots, pans, silverware, plates, cups, and glassware. As well as, other household appliances such as a crockpot, air fryer, waffle maker, and blender.Please note: While this house has gone through extensive renovations, our home was built in 1910. Some characteristics are authentic to the home and hold the charm of living in an older space.Guest Access:Permit-free street parking is plentiful in front of the apartment on the right side of the street. For long-term guests, neighborhood-zoned guest parking passes are available. Most guests who drive here park their car and forget about it for the duration of their stay as the area is accessible via walking, bike share, ride share, or public transportation. Generally, these are more convenient and worry-free ways to get around town. We are just 4 blocks from the Stadium-Armory metro station. And within a 20-minute walk to the Potomac Metro Station, the Eastern Market Metro Station, and Union Station. Within a 1.5-mile walk, you can also reach Marine Barracks/Barracks Row, US Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, Lincoln Park, H Street Corridor, and many great dining and grocery locations. Also, our home is along the blue metro line with access to Reagan National Airport and the silver metro line with access to Dulles International Airport. There are capital bike-share racks on both ends of our block.
