Property Description
Welcome to "Your Capitol Hill Homestead"!
The Homestead is perfect for out-of-town family visits, sightseeing, or a space for those temporarily working in the city. The home has lots of light, spacious rooms, and comfort not found in many stays. Some amenities include a gourmet equipped kitchen, a fenced-in backyard, and permit-free parking. Located near restaurants, shops, public transportation, and parks. We are tucked in the center of a quiet block in the Historic Capitol Hill neighborhood.
The Property:
This house is a two-bedroom and 2.5-bath home with an open floor plan on the main level. You enter the home from the street up 9 stairs to the front porch and main level. The main level has an entryway, dining room, living room, kitchen, and half bath. With the two bedrooms and two full bathrooms upstairs, and an air mattress available, 11 stairs up. Outside is a backyard and porch, 5 stairs down to the yard.
While there are a ton of amazing dining options within walking distance if you prefer to do it yourself, walk to the nearby Eastern Market farmer's market on Saturdays and Sundays. Groceries nearby are Safeway, Trader Joe's, and Yes! Organic Market to make use of the fully stocked kitchen. The kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, toaster, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, dishwasher, in-sink garbage disposal, oven, and 5-burner range. Kitchenware includes pots, pans, silverware, plates, cups, and glassware. As well as, other household appliances such as a crockpot, air fryer, waffle maker, and blender.
Please note: While this house has gone through extensive renovations, our home was built in 1910. Some characteristics are authentic to the home and hold the charm of living in an older space.
Guest Access:
Permit-free street parking is plentiful in front of the apartment on the right side of the street. For long-term guests, neighborhood-zoned guest parking passes are available. Most guests who drive here park their car and forget about it for the duration of their stay as the area is accessible via walking, bike share, ride share, or public transportation. Generally, these are more convenient and worry-free ways to get around town. We are just 4 blocks from the Stadium-Armory metro station. And within a 20-minute walk to the Potomac Metro Station, the Eastern Market Metro Station, and Union Station. Within a 1.5-mile walk, you can also reach Marine Barracks/Barracks Row, US Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, Lincoln Park, H Street Corridor, and many great dining and grocery locations. Also, our home is along the blue metro line with access to Reagan National Airport and the silver metro line with access to Dulles International Airport. There are capital bike-share racks on both ends of our block. As well as easy bus access to multiple bus lines.About pets:Pets allowed: limit 2 total.Well-behaved pets are welcome..About checkOut:Check out before 12:00 PM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About checkIn:Check in after 4:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 25.About events:No events allowed.

Great House, Great Location, Great Host
We stayed one week to see the DC sights. The house was perfect, well equipped, and very easy to navigate to and from the heart of DC. Very glad we chose this property. Grace was very accommodating to allowing us to check in early. Thank you and see you next time.

Awesome home and location
This property is everything it says it is and it has an even more than is published. It’s in a great location, a safe neighborhood, restaurants at walkable distances, it’s clean, fresh, up to date and is filled with everything you’ll need to stay and feel at home. Bravo, and thank you!

Perfect setting for DC visit with friends
Not only was the house everything we expected but quite a bit more. It had all of the amenities that allowed us to live so very comfortably as if we were at home. We were able to get up and make breakfasts etc. We were able to lay around and watch TV or have a dinner in the dining room. It was absolutely perfect. Everything is very clean and organized. Honestly, we didn’t want to leave, but of course we had to. We definitely hope it will be available next time we come into town.

Perfect Location/ Wonderful House
I’m originally from the DC area. My husband and I stayed to visit friends, catch a performance at the Kennedy Center, hike and bike.
The house is conveniently located near the Metro, and within walking distance of Trader Joes and several fantastic shops. (We strolled to Wine & Butter twice.) The kitchen was well stocked with spices and cookware (including a French press for coffee). For cyclists- the house is only a short drive to the entrance and parking area for the C&O canal path. We did a fun 50 mile ride (we have gravel bikes, but there’s a paved trail too). Great place for long runs, too. Moderate drive up to Harpers Ferry for several hiking options. We did the Stone Fort hike, and the views were amazing. On our theater night, we walked to the Metro and took the free Kennedy Center shuttle from the GWU Metro station. Easy and extremely convenient. We walked from the house to visit the mall and museums. Might be a bit long for kids, but there are several convenient Metro stops. We had no issues with parking, and the neighborhood is quiet with a nearby park. Communication with the host was really easy. No problem accessing the rental. The house was very clean, and the kitchen was perfect for meals. Really enjoyed our stay.

Cute, clean property and amazing host!
My husband and I traveled with our twin teenage daughters and my in-laws. This property was absolutely perfect for our family and we had a wonderful visit to the DC area! This property is in a quiet neighborhood and is very spacious. Host has added many small touches to this place to make you feel like you are at home. The coffee pods were certainly appreciated. :)
Rooms are a great size. My daughters slept on provided air mattress and it was comfy. Upstairs rooms are designed for privacy from each other as well.
We had originally thought we would use the charcoal grill several nights, but instead opted for indoor cooking. The kitchen was supplied with everything we needed for cooking meals throughout the week. We even used the instant pot and air fryer one night. We loved the large dining room table for meals and for playing card games in the evening after a long day.
Grace, the host was really awesome to work with. She even accommodated our request to drop our luggage early the day of check-in, which was super helpful. We were able to have the entire afternoon of our first day for a museum visit and exploring of some National Mall monuments.
We had a busy schedule planned for the week, and we were thankful we were able to visit so many places. We used the metro for transportation all week and the short 3 block walk to the Stadium metro station was great.
All in all, fabulous trip and couldn’t have asked for a better stay. I would highly recommend!
