We have just had a weekend break here for my 70th Birthday surprise. The hotel is ok , and the staff are very courteous and friendly but don’t book room 20 it was like a sweat box! windows are kept open all the time as it is just too hot! and we had a noisy electric fan on all night! It was awful needless to say we got no rest! I mentioned this to receptionist she said that all the hotel was very warm? which it wasn’t as we’d had an evening meal there, and spoken to other guests. Spoilt my weekend.

Lovely stay here for 3 nights. Fun finding the car park as it’s on a tiny road by the church. Found 2 parking spots. Pleasant welcome, then a hike up to our room - decent size and comfy bed. Quaint hotel. Wondered if we’d made a mistake as there are no gardens to sit and have a relaxing drink in; also the WiFi took ages to connect. The rooms were above the busy road through town. There was an excellent stand fan in the room which was a life saver in this heat. Our room was 21 and the shower was weak and we had it on max heat to get anything like a decent shower. The expelair didn’t work. Slept ok but the road gets noisy early. The food here is excellent and we enjoyed eating in every night. Breakfast was top notch too and set us up well for the day. All staff were pleasant and service was good. This is a great base for the locality and for lots of great walks - seashore, dunes and riverside. The church gardens next door have some interestingly different plants. Went to the nearby Masons pub’s large beer garden for afternoon drinks. Found free parking nearby when the car park was full. The positives here far outweigh any small drawback and we plan to come back.

Bit of a hidden gem but I highly recommend the hotel restaurant at Warkworth House. Quality food served at very good prices. Dining room is roomy and nicely decorated. Service is pleasant and very efficient. Not on everyone's radar locally but suggest you give it a try

We visited from the 23rd to the 28th of June on a B & B basis. We were welcomed by the superb lady on reception, i mention that lady, for our entire stay she never seemed to be away from the front desk , breakfast most mornings, our one and only evening meal she took our order , the entire staff, front desk, room refreshing (daily) kitchen and serving staff they were exemplify, i can't praise them enough, you take a punt and hope your choice is what you envisaged and in this case it was a gold star find. My only concern is the limited parking available at the Hotel, admittedly there is free parking in the square IF you can find a space but happily that didn't impact on our visit as we parked all nights within the confines of the secured hotel parking spaces. I can't add any more other than say the breakfasts were superb, the one and only time we ate at the Hotel in the evening i had the steak pie, and i haven't had a better steak pie in all the other establishments that i had ordered it in . The owners and staff have something going here and i recommend you try it out. I assure you, you will not be disappointed .

This is for the restaurant only as we did not stay here. We had booked a table but there seemed to be plenty of space. We were sat at table 17, a table for two so had plenty of space. Having eaten here before we knew the portions were generous so opted for a main course only. My partner had salmon with samphire, crushed potatoes and a green side salad. This was described as tasty and she appreciated the potatoes being separate so she could as many or few as she wished. As the vegetarian I opted for the Thai green curry. This can with a hot sauce both in physical heat and spice. In it was carrots, mange tout, cauliflower, peppers and a few asparagus. I found this a tasty and filling dish. We complemented this with a bottle Picpoul white wine which was dry and tasty. We both enjoyed the food which was tasty and a good quantity. The staff were helpful and efficient.

We have just come home after a week at the Warkworth House Hotel. This was our first holiday in a few years, so we were wanting something really special. We found absolutely the right place! All the basics were great – beautifully decorated and spacious room, spotlessly clean, lovely bathroom, welcoming bar with a good selection and the food! From the breakfasts with the extensive choice (all cooked to order) and good quality produce to the dinners with a great choice, some lovely specials and beautiful presentation, we didn’t have anything that we didn’t enjoy with relish. Special mention must also be made of the genius idea of having a “milk” fridge on every landing so you can always have fresh milk in with your tea or coffee – makes such a difference! But what makes this place really special is the service. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, without being over the top, that it just makes you feel so welcome. This is everyone from the managers to the lovely young waiting staff to the housekeepers and no matter how busy they are, they just want to make your stay a memorable one. You really feel like it is important to them that you feel welcome and that your stay is a good one. And they succeeded. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone who wants to explore some of the beautiful Northumbrian countryside – you won’t be disappointed.

Sunday lunch with friends and family. Party of six. Absolutely first rate. Lovely surroundings, friendly, polite staff and varied menu where everything we had was really good. Three different starters chosen. Everything was really good. The Sunday Roasts were excellent, beautifully cooked, just the right amount. No one had room for desert. Reasonably priced too , especially given the quality.
