What an amazing hidden gem this is. Nestled on a hill top overlooking the marshes with Warehorn church over the road, this pub with rooms is a must for a romantic get away. We arrived early and had a drink in the bar, which is beautifully quirky, a welcoming log fire burning and a wide selection of drinks. We had booked "Niddy" an attic room with so much to give, a comfy bed, roll top bath, and so much character. The only niggle I had with the room, was the W.C squeezed into the roof space it was a little awkward to stand up and wee, but that's a small thing when it comes to such a great room. Requesting a quiet table for dinner, we were given one in a side area and again we couldn't believe it, it was super romantic and we had the whole room to ourselves. Our waiter Muli was so good, he was attentive but not intruding, and so funny, we haven't had many meals out and he really did make the evening. The food was excellent and the vegan burger was one of the best I have had. The location was brilliant, if you're into walking, cycling, birdwatching or wanting to visit local sites (rye was only 20min drive away) The rest of the staff were also brilliant, and couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely return.

Stopped over at this lovely establishment for a night whilst walking the Royal Military Canal. Lovely staff, superbly comfortable bed and a fabulous bath to soak in after a hard day's hiking. Our dinner was absolutely delicious. Rather strangely, breakfast is only served from 9.30 onwards - cue a number of hungry guests seated hungrily at tables in the morning (one couple had to leave without as they had a ferry to catch). However, if you can afford the wait then it's definitely worth it as the breakfast is also superb :-)

I have avoided this pub for a few years as the food was grim and expensive. I read a new chef from ‘Rocksalt’ Folkestone had been brought in so decided to give it a go. The Chorizo Scotch eggs were excellent. Tasty and runny. I had the rabbit which was very good. The assortment of foods on this plate were excellent. My companion had the Halibut which was even better. Locally sourced and beautifully cooked. I really hope ‘Chris’ the chef stays and the promise of a new kitchen actually materialises. I know this has been promised to previous incumbents but never appeared. This pub could really work if it keeps an actual chef and what passes off as a kitchen is finally ripped out. Publicity needs to be upped now it is actually working and best publicity sits with the individual pub in order to flex to current developments in the village. If you want ‘locals’ back you need to reflect their needs and issues.

I booked a Mid Week Retreat through the Woolpack website and received excellent service from there on! I had a couple of questions about my stay and being a bit of a phone call avoider, emailed the Woolpack and was so grateful for their speedy and helpful responses. We stayed the night 16th-17th of February in the Frederick Suite and let me tell you, the photos on the website don't do it justice. It was beautiful. We had a couple of drinks in our room, followed by a couple more with our meal downstairs. A table was reserved for us as staying guests and we were talked through our meal options straight away - it was steak night which was included in our retreat package, and then we were happy to pay a little extra for a game bird starter and some wonderful desserts. We had a great nights sleep - some people have mentioned noise from the bar but it didn't bother us any more than the wind outside the windows, and complimentary ear plugs were provided if it did! In the morning we had a fully stocked tea and coffee station in our room, as well as a little bloody Mary packaged, just incase. We went down for breakfast, also included in our stay, which was cooked fresh to order and tasted great! We checked out, went for a ramble in the blistering sunshine and then actually came back for a couple of rhubarb ciders in the front garden - clearly we just did not want to go home! The staff were impeccable from booking until checking out (then coming back, and leaving again) and I would absolutely recommend The Woolpack Inn. Actually, I haven't stopped recommending it since we got back, so yes - book your stay!

I really can fault this hotel. They were outstanding from the friendly welcome, quirky well furnished rooms, nespresso coffee pods, wood burner in the rooms, deep bath with oodles of hot water, comfy chairs, sumptuous beds, complimentary port, complimentary bloody Mary’s, wonderful breakfast, great choice of dinners, etc etc etc. to just be enjoyed.

So quirky, all the rooms have different themes. Ours was Honeychild and has the bath in the bedroom with a milk churn fitted with the taps, separate loo which was a bit dark but again quirky. Over the bed there was a head of a cow made out of fibreglass. It was so good. The armchair was tatty in a perfectly fitting way and so comfy. The bed was so comfy and the pillows gorgeous. They provide a coffee machine, kettle and pods for the machine, hot chocolate and tea and there was an honesty box on the landing outside for extras. Milk and bottled water was available in the fridge of the landing. Plus there was a little decanter with some wonderful sloe gin in, a lovely touch. The only things that weren't quite right for me were the fact that the hairdryer couldn't be plugged in near the mirror (the mirror near the fireplace was a bit high for me as I'm only 5ft 4"). The steps up to the rooms are very twisty and if you have any mobility issues it can be very difficult to get up and down. The food, we had lunch and dinner on the first day and breakfast the next, was really good and locally produced. The staff were so lovely and friendly on all shifts. We would go back if in the area, especially for the food and the views of the church and the fields. There is also free parking which is great. I would recommend anyone if in the area to give it a try (and they are dog friendly :) ). Thank you to all the staff for a lovely stay.

I stayed for one night at The Woolpack Inn last week. The food, accommodation and service were excellent. I stayed in Honeychild. There was an open fire which a member of staff helped set up for me (Edwin I think, I apologise if I got that wrong). In fact he was very accommodating as I needed help with the fire a few times. The Woolpack Inn is a really interesting, quirky and delightful little place. I had a challenging day at work and it was lovely to pitch up at the Inn for the night for a little R&R. The steak at dinner was good and so was breakfast by the fireplace the following morning. I left my phone and laptop charger and the team posted it back to me asap which I was very grateful for! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and I look forward to returning.

We spent 1 night at the Woolpack, which is set in a lovely small village opposite the church. The pub is very nicely decorated with quirky touches. Our room was well equipped with a gorgeous roll top bath with wonderful views. A well stocked tea and coffee tray with a decanter of sherry, which was delicious and a lovely touch. Snuggly bath robes, ample toiletries which smelt Devine, and a super comfy bed! The restaurant was amazing. We had a great evening meal and breakfast was the best!!! The pub can get a bit noisy of a weekend, so bear this in mind as noise travels in old buildings. Lastly, the staff were super friendly and would do anything for you.
