Food, facilities and service generally superb, but a little expensive, and not every staff member was great. Also, whislt the food and wine were wonderful, the beer on offer was definitely substandard.

The hotel has been refurbished in the last 4 years. It has been done very well and to a high standard .The room was spacious and clean. The bed and bedding was comfy and fresh(mattress a little too hard for my preference but that's just me) The bathroom was spacious and the shower was a digital push button model with a choice of full rain shower or hand held .Coffee and tea equipment was in a drawer below the fridge which had us stumped for a few minutes as to where it maybe.Plenty of it and no problem if you need more of anything as friends asked the domestic and it was no problem. We had a lovely garden view as our room was on the 1st floor.Friends on the other side of the corridor had a courtyard view. Dinner was nice and there was an allowance of £40 per person.A bit odd but .... Breakfast again was delicious ,however ,there were never enough cereal bowls out, we had to ask each day, we had to ask for milk ,coffee and tea.The service just wasn't good enough. We had to ask for toast which took forever to arrive. There should have been someone constantly checking if we had everything we needed and there wasn't. The staff were lovely and when asked they eventually provided what we needed, but we shouldn't be the ones asking. The final issue was with the bill on checkout, it was the most confusing layout I have ever seen. All because of the £40 allowance for our dinner .We were in a big group and so we eventually worked it out with the help of the receptionist.Surely signing for drinks during the stay would be helpful?

Stayed for two nights in two different rooms due to unexpected extra night. First room had cobwebs around the ceiling and the showerhead was full of limescale so didnt have much pressure. 2nd room same with the shower and the middle didnt event work, the top of the showerhead was very dusty and at 09:00 the cleaner entered my room then said it was a mistake as I was not due to check out until 11! it could have been an awkward situation. Complained via email and Steve said he would sort it within 24 hours and come back to me, after three more emails asking for an update still nothing. I have used the Haycock of many occasions but will consider other venues for my business now which saddens me.

This is a delightful place to have lunch. Great location just off the A1. This is my second visit. This time lunch in the Haycock Kitchen. Delicious food, friendly service and excellent value. Wansford is a very pretty little village, I’ll be back.

My husband and I visited for afternoon tea. If you are a fan of afternoon tea then this is a must! Food was delicious, very well presented with great service, in a beautiful setting. We had some nibbles at first in the courtyard, with cocktails. All very high standard!

Stayed here whilst in near area on business & main reason for doing so, was it mentioned air con in rooms. So with sticky hot nights in play, due to recent hot weather....then proceeded to book as it said rooms had such. Got room 307 & on first appearance the room seemed fine & no reason to raise any issues with. But when the wanted air con after say a good hour of trying every option on the control, was giving less to no cool breeze...it was then time to call Reception & seek dome help. Well I would have, if the in room Phone worked. No signal, no power & then noted the connection cable hanging loose in Wall connection pint. So went to place in & only to note the Cable disappear through & fixing behind. So had to then use my Mobile to call Reception & on call Reception lad then came to room & aid with possible reasons air con was not working. After him checking & checking another room, he was in agreement with me, not much cool air was flowing...if any. Asked him about in room Phone, no suggestions or reason give, other than apology. Offered another room, but at 22.15 hrs in evening and just wanting to get some crash time, as early start next morning...declined the offer. Tried having window open for a while, but with much walk bye traffic outside room, gave up on that.....and just sweated it out until getting to sleep. Not the accommodation experience I had expected for monies being paid & as say offered up on website. The food however did tick many a wanted box of need & as I was working off Laptop, sat in Bar area, to be able to do work & eat away at same time. Rather feel obligation to change & dine in Restaurant. Had the Cheese Croquettes to start & then Burger main course, that were well executed & freshly made, whilst adequately filling the hunger needs. Staff girl on duty was chirpy, pleasant & very helpful in direction on what to have & gave honest recommendations on what to have. Breakfast, did not stay for sit down as was on the hop to get going for work meeting, so grabbed a Glass of OJ & couple of Croissants. But doubt much privacy to be had, unless it was quiet time & say first down....then may have opted not to. As room used, not big & Tables were very on top of each other. So in terms of privacy or wanted chat with who with, not exactly possible. Do think they would much better place breakfast in other Restaurant area, as not everyone enjoys a crowded morning eatery area. Gardens & outside areas, clean enough, but some parts of say Gardens there is works in mid doing. But overall plenty areas to go and relax & switch off in some fresh air & peaceful riverside surroundings. On check out, asked if I had enjoyed stay, so expressed a mix reply & reasons behind. Apology given, but it was what it was & she could not turn back the Clock to fix. Overall, staff & food were above average & helped my given rating of good experience. A skin of the Teeth good I must say & if room issues had not been so problematic , then an

We had lunch at Prevost last year which was lovely so booked an overnight as part of a deal (lunch and bed). It was amazing value and Prevost was unchanged in the quality of service and food. Not sure each course needed to be accompanied by chef as I was conscious of how busy they must be but it was nice to have the dishes explained. The bread was excellent. Lobster canape and the pork dish was standout. Service was fantastic and the setting with the lovely birdcage seating is so sweet. But the normal tables also nice and the garden views as great. Our room (a newer classic one) was perfect. Good shower and lovely comfy bed. Hotel is nicely refurbished and has plenty of break out areas so you can find your own space. Saw a few dogs and they were made welcome without it feeling like it detracted from the quality as some places do. Reception was great. Lovely lad checked us in and was very professional. All the staff were welcoming and working hard. We also had dinner in the bar from the bistro which was also great. Lovely rhubarb tart! A few things I am sure they are aware of but will mention - website - needs improvement. More images. Doesnt do the place justice to be honest. There is a lovely river walk through an arch in garden (also ideal if you have dogs) and the garden patio rooms had no real images so we were reluctant to book them. Having seen them I see they are close together with just a trellis between so not very private but but nice if you want garden access. (See photo) The gardens are a work in progress. Needs more planting and tidying a bit. Sad to see the vege patch unused and rhubarb gone to seed but am sure they are working on that now. Looked like a pond was going in and the place has lots of potential. More seating in the rear garden would be nice. (With shade). But the front area was lovely. Flies bothered us in this heat so we sat in bar by the doors. Breakfast area was charming but tables a bit too close so conversation was tricky. Same outside - tables too close. Would have preferred more privacy at breakfast but the full english was excellent. Service good but the lady looked very busy and some folk were waiting on toast etc. needed another staff member. In our room the shower flooded the floor as it was so powerful. But it was a lovely shower! Some minor snagging items in terms of decor and a few odd things like plug sockets in random places half way up walls and the wires trailing from our tv make it feel less 4* but these are easily fixed. Some hallways felt a bit bare like they were still not finished and there was a shed in courtyard full of tools and stuff, but we did like the styling and just think some more attention to details inside and out - more flowers to pretty it up in courtyard et. would take it to next level. The tree lights at night were pretty though. Would gladly return and Wandsworth village is really classy. We live on edge of cotswolds but that area is n
