The Moorings Motel and Apartments

Hotel is in great location (restaurants grocery, etc.). Bus stop was just a few minutes away which made it easy to get back to Queenstown (used Ritchie’s bus service). Room had small patio which overlooked the water. The room was a little dated but clean. Continental breakfast was sufficient (juice, granola, toast) but rather pricey for what was provided. Would recommend visiting one of the breakfast eateries such as Doughbin instead. The staff had excellent communication prior to visit as we were planning to arrived hours. We arrived early and were allowed to leave our bags which were moved to our room without having to ask. Before checking out, I received a paid invoice (charged my credit card); however, I wanted to pay by cash to save processing fee. The office manager complained he wasn’t sure he could do it and did not seem happy (quite annoyed) with my request. He advised next time to tell them upon check in if changing payment methods. He did open the office early for me to check out so maybe he was just tired that his morning started so early.

No doubt the location is king and you are just a moments walk from the lake and cafes/restaurants. Super friendly service and easy check in/check out. Well heated and heated bathroom floors are a bonus plus excellent bedding. Definitely not luxury though and the furnishings and bathroom are pretty basic. Shower curtails and peeled paint and a pretty unusable TV. But perfect for a good nights sleep and enjoying all the local area has to offer.

Amazing little apartment in the heart of Wanaka -- ＜5 min walk from all restaurants and shops. But the highlight is the AMAZING view from the balcony -- the best part of my stay was sitting out there enjoying the view with a cup of tea or glass of wine. Parking can be a bit tight if they are at full capacity. Would recommend to anyone traveling to the area!

Great location , great price and nice rooms however the inability to service the rooms is a big negative. The reason was the lack of staff!! Could well be true but nowhere else in the area was this given as a reason not to do something. The bin could have been emptied at least!! That said we would return as the rooms out the front have great views and everything is within walking distance. Good value for money and maybe the price reflected the lack of room servicing. The manager is hsrdcase- nice friendly guy.

Easy check in. Fabulous location with a lakefront west facing balcony😲🙏☀️. Friendly staff, large room, extra large double bed, wished we could have stayed longer. Good toiletries and tea/coffee/milk. Walk to cafes, bars and restaurants. Strongly recommend Amigos. We went on Taco Tuesday and food and service was spot on. Also try the Churros!

A good motel: good sized room with good view from balcony over lake: easy parking behind block. Good facilities / comfortable : just a 5 min wander to lake side town centre and eating/ drinking places

The Lakefront Twin studio was perfect--very comfortable and spacious and so enjoyable to sit looking over the lawn and down to the lakefront-so close! Also close to the cafes and shops in town and in the middle of stunning country. The heated floor in the bathroom was much appreciated too. Definitely staying here again!

Overnight stay in Wanaka on business. Great location, beautiful views of the lake from the balcony. Service was great, very friendly and professional. Easy check in & out. Rooms had lots of amenities. Bathrooms slightly dated, but shower was hot and that’s all that counts.

The motel is in a very handy location, you can walk into the main shopping and restaurants and bars. It was a fairly standard motel inside, but does have amazing views of the lake. I think that’s what you pay for the view. The toilet in our bathroom had been broken and was glued and blue tacked up and looked like it had been that for sometime. Room had everything we needed and bed was comfortable. It was full but didn’t hear any noise at night. Nothing amazing apart from the views but still clean and tidy.
