It's quite remote, but well worth trying. Living here will give you a rare experience. Spoiler alert, you can see fluorescent bugs for free🐛(👀)

A dream location for nature and tranquility lovers, far from urban pollution. The accommodation is located near the Waimato Caves and Marokopa Waterfall. The black sand beach is accessible by car and provides access to the west coast.

We stayed for two nights. What a wonderful place to stay. Small, clean, and charming! Great hosts with a very friendly approach. The view—especially in the morning—is magical! Just a few kilometers from various glowworm caves in the Waitomo region. About a 1-1.5 hour drive to Hobbiton.

The view was absolutely amazing. I posted a picture with a note. You can see Mordor door from here. The sun rise over Mordor was fantastic. Angus, our host was informative and interesting to talk to. He and his wife are active in many positive social and environmental organizations in the area. The cabin said everything you would need to make your own breakfast and we’re very comfortable. You did have to go outside to go to the unattached bathroom, but it was well equipped good hot water and everything you need. I was pretty glad for that because I got up to go and got to see the sunrise. A warning the road is pretty curvy getting there and the driveway is very narrow and goes on longer than you think until it turns into a dirt road however well worth the effort. Just mentioning that so you won’t feel like you got lost on the way there or going up the driveway.We are so glad that our excellent travel agent Creative Kiwi found this site for us. The glamping tent may have been the best accommodation of all.

Botched self check-in
Was impressed with the detailed and clear arrival instructions sent via email prior to our arrival, and was looking forward to our 2x night stay in cabin 2 with its sweeping view of the hills below.
On arrival we were surprised and disappointed that a couple of other guests took it upon themselves to occupy the cabin I booked six months prior. Though they begrudgingly were willing to move to their cabin, that would have meant we would have moved in to a cabin they had been occupying for the last couple of hours. Without a desire to use gently used bedding and facilities, we let them keep our cabin and view. Would recommend taking a look at the self check in procedures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Marvellous location with fantastic views. Nice and cozy, warm welcoming owner. Great base for exploring the Waitomo Caves.

Up on top of a mountain surrounded by a farm. Incredible views. Angus gave us a warm welcome. 10 minutes from the glow worm caves.
We stayed in cabin 1. Rustic. A short walk to a private glow worm grotto.
