We stayed here for five nights for a family beach vacation. You check in the plaza and go across the street to the motel. The parking garage entrance is in between the outdoor pool and Sweet Frog. The staff was friendly but they seem overwhelmed with all the customers. We booked the 2 queen bed suite. I thought the couch was a pull out bed but it wasn't. It is just a love seat. The ac on the living room side worked but the ac on the bed side was broken. They put a plug in fan on that side. The temperature was in the triple digits for that week so not having ac was killer. My husband let them know and they sent the maintenance man but he said he couldn't fix it and that at least the air worked on the other side. Half the lights don't work. The beds are not comfortable and there was already sand in the sheets when we arrived. There were 2 bathrooms in the room! That was a surprise because it doesn't say that in the description online. That was nice to have a separate bathroom for the kids and adults. The outdoor pool is nice to cool off but it is dirty. The inside pool had such a strong chlorine smell that we only went there once. The gym is small and half the equipment was broken and didn't work. It also has a strong weird smell. The location is nice. The motel is on the side with all the shops and stores so you can just walk. You only have to walk across the street and go through the main hotel to get to the boardwalk and beach. Bottom line is you get what you pay for. If you want something cheap and close to the beach and you don't mind a basic motel then this is doable.
Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront

This is the second or third hotel I’ve stayed in in the past 18 months. Even the top notch hotels are not offering the same levels of room servicing as in the past. This Ramada on Va Beach is no different. I had to remind myself I was staying in an oceanfront property with inadequate room staffing, on a weekend, to justify the price (over $300/night all in). The front desk staff was very good and when I checked in they told me about the across the street parking (which manned in afternoons and late into the evenings) and lack of room servicing. They did say that if we needed anything like towels or sheets to come to the front desk, The room was generally clean but there were splashes of dried red wine on one wall and the shower button on the tub was stuck on so we could only shower…not a problem but we had to control the water temp before we got in so we wouldn’t get burned. I reported both conditions when we checked out as we didn’t spend any time in our room as we had family nearby. Decor and furnishings seemed a bit worn but all seemed clean and no weird smells. Fr ankle, we have stayed at other places oceanfront and the quality is all about the same and some are worse. I think it is the nature of mid-rate beach hotels to be in this condition. Location is very good.
