Ocean Sands Resort, Oceanfront, Virginia Beach by Vacatia

View from the balcony is excellent - absolutely ocean front. The location is convenient and great as well - walking distance to shops, restaurants, beach and other attractions. The room and kitchen were clean but overall the room felt dated. The dishwasher did not work and the property itself is not very clean but OK. Parking is a challenge, especially if you have an SUV or a larger vehicle. If you can find a good rate, like we did, it is good value for money. Overall we had a great time!

The best part about this resort is to be able to sit on your balcony and see the sunset with your cup of Joe, see the dolphins without having to pay for a tour and be able to listen to the crashing waves. So relaxing.

The web photos show nice furniture and nice amenities. But the bathroom and kitchen are old. The cleaning person did a poor job cleaning the bathroom. I was hoping to take a bath in the jetted bathtub, but the rust and dirt were a turn-off. The view from the balcony is great, it would be nicer if they used soap and water and rinse the deck.

Getting a lot of bad reviews, I don’t like that!!!! Not being clean is the biggest concern I have.. I mean every review is bad WTH is going on down at this resort.. Is the managers reading this and taking care of the problem because it don’t seem like it.

Read prior submitted review: ADA Accommodation Request Ignored Prior to arrival, I requested a higher floor due to my twins’ autism and their sensitivity to noise. This request was acknowledged in writing. Instead, we were placed on the first floor near the lobby, which resulted in constant noise disturbance. When I raised the issue, I was told the hotel was at full occupancy, though I observed later check-ins being placed on higher floors. ADA law requires disability-related accommodations be provided on need, not on a “first come, first served” basis. Check-In Experience At check-in, staff did not acknowledge me until another employee stepped in. A simple acknowledgment would have sufficed, but instead I was left standing awkwardly, waiting. Room and Facility Issues Uneven and excessively loud AC, with water dripping from the upstairs unit onto our patio. Inoperable lamps; missing blanket for the second bed. No lotion or standard amenities. Poor and inconsistent water pressure that caused sudden surges, startling my children. Dirty bed skirts and trash under the bed. Bathroom door scraped the toilet and offered minimal clearance, limiting accessibility. Beds were noisy and uncomfortable; air quality questionable, as all four of us coughed whenever the AC ran. Other Concerns Excessive noise inside and outside the room. No accommodations for autistic children. Early checkout time (10am vs. the standard 11am). No guidance on internet, incidentals, or amenities at check-in. No ice machine available; only trays in the fridge. Summary The property failed to provide ADA-compliant accommodations and fell short of basic hospitality standards, both in cleanliness and functionality.

Housekeeping was unacceptable. Unit was not clean. To many issues to list. Resort was left a list of problems. I took pictures of all problems. Floors not washed, racks in micro food stuck on, toaster broken and in cabinet with crumbs. Air vent in Bedroom thick with dust. Safe had no door so useless to use and more problems with housekeeping
